‘Ted Lasso’ Stars, Writers Score Big Paydays for Season 3

Sudeikis has already closed a deal for season three that will pay him $1 million an episode.
It includes creator fees and compensation for his role as the show’s head writer and exec producer.
It covers the two extra episodes of season 2, is up from the $250,000 to $300,000 per-episode sum he earned for seasons one and two.

Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Goldstein, Juno Temple (Keeley) and Hunt, all scored raises that take them from the $50,000 to $75,000 range they earned per episode for seasons one and two to the $125,000 to $150,000 territory. Waddingham, Temple and Goldstein have already closed rich new deals for season three. Goldstein also negotiated a second payday for his role as writer and exec producer on the series, with Hunt doing the same.

Showrunner Bill Lawrence is also seeking an increase from the five-year, eight-figure overall deal he signed with Warners in late 2018

Other actor deals are also expected to close in the coming weeks as Warners and Apple solidify a new licensing deal, with the latter taking on added costs of the show.

Further complicating negotiations is the uncertain future of Ted Lasso beyond season three. Sudeikis has been open about envisioning only a three-season run for Ted Lasso. Lawrence, Warners and Apple all would love for Ted Lasso to continue well beyond a third season. Ultimately, the future of the show is up to Sudeikis, a father of two who spends six or seven months out of the year filming the show in London.

None for Nick? 👀 And what about the supporting actors, like Toheeb? Or even Phil?
everyone got a raise.
Good for them, now stop it with the Rebecca/Sam nonsense.
I hate it so much!
Me too! So, so much.
I hate it. No chemistry & highly inappropriate.
It's a bummer because I think it makes season 2 look bad. But I think s2 is actually just as good as s1, if we just like erase the Sam/Rebecca stuff from our minds.

I hope next episode Rebecca realizes how inappropriate the relationship is and ends it.
Last weeks episode was SO GOOD minus that
I was really hoping she was messaging trent crimm from the independent
I honestly thought she was gonna realize it is him without meeting/seeing each other and she was gonna be like FUCK and run away. oh boy how wrong I was
im like a little dumbfounded re: how much of a miss it is lmaooo

like they even had rebecca scream all the things wrong with it (he’s young as hell, she’s his boss!!) and they still plowed head first into it, i’m so ???
I wanted Rebecca/Ted and I’m so sad….Sam is a sweetie and she deserves a good guy but he is fucking 21 and he looks even younger than that lmao
Yes!!! I can't believe they went there. Not here for it.
I was hoping Rebecca would come to her senses before sleeping with him.. 😭😭
great now spend it on classes and learn how to write women
I think their writing of women is surprisingly good tbh. I love the dynamic between Keeley and Rebecca, and how they’re presented as individuals outside of the men of the show
I agree, though they were much better written in the first season - it was more about their friendship, their work relationship etc. In fact, their friendship was one of my favourite things about S1. This season it’s been all about the men in their lives and it is kind of ugh to watch two well fleshed out women characters be reduced to “My boyfriend annoys me” and “I’m desperate for love”.

IA. Based on writing credits on wikipedia, it seems like there's a fair number of women in the writer's room and I think it shows.
they're good in that the female characters feel like real people but bad in that keeley and rebecca have no real plots in s2 that dont involve their love lives/ partners, especially compared to the other male characters.

Lmao the women on the show are fucking amazing what are you even going on about
I'm mostly enjoying this season, but is anyone else hating this [Spoiler (click to open)]Sam and Rebecca storyline? I love both characters, but she's 30 years older than him and his boss...she outright acknowledges that she has an ethical duty not to pursue the relationship. On a different show they might explore those conflicts, but I kind of feed like the team and Ted will be very rah-rah about this, and it makes me a little uncomfortable!
I get that they’re trying to turn the trope on its head but like neither way is OK
[Spoiler (click to open)]I don't know how to feel about Sam/Rebecca, but I honestly like it more than when Loki tried to pull self-love in the most awkward and uncomfortable way possible.
That new character was a WASTE and I hated every minute of their non-chemistry.

I think Rebecca’s goddaughter will find out and call her out on it.

I like both characters and I think they are cute together (as in, I think the actors have chemistry) but IA the situation makes the relationship very uncomfortable to watch.
Yes, I really really hate it.
we'll see? I was really worried leading up to it but they did have rebecca [Spoiler (click to open)]verbalize all of the things that are problematic about the relationship, which I feel like they wouldn't do if they intended us to sell us on sam/rebecca as a couple we should root for without reservations?

if anything I think a LOT of things are about to blow up at richmond (everyone confessed to shit that'd sound awful if nate happened to spill it to trent crimm, the independent!) and exposing sam/rebecca is likely to be a part of that.

Yay they all deserve it!
I would love for this show to end solidly, and if that can happen in three seasons, I hope they do it. While I love nearly all the side characters, I think the show needs Ted for them to orbit around, so I don't know what a show without him would look like.
It's still fucking insane that Rebecca is being compared to Rupert when her story with Sam is VASTLY different. Yes, I don't love it and I hope they drop it soon but context matters, people.

Also, I ship Rebecca and Ted bc I'm that basic.
i was feeling major ~vibes from ted & rebecca basically all of s1. i'm definitely surprised the writers didnt go there (or, at least inch closer to it) in s2.
Yeah, I was really hoping he was the mystery bantr dude </3 The scene where he's having the anxiety attack totally sold me on them and the christmas episode was the icing on the cake.
I ship Rebecca and Ted

Same, idc. But it would have to be once Ted's no longer coaching Richmond because it would be almost as bad as this thing with Sam.

I would hate Ted/Rebecca as a couple! They have buddy chemistry IMO. I wanted the Bantr dude to be Trent Crimm so bad

I don't Rupert is Bex's (his fiance) boss, so in some matters, Sam/Rebecca is even worse.

Yeah I am that basic bitch too but they have so much chemistry :( but now with Sam situation and the fact that Jason wants only 3 seasons and that he might be going into the Ted/shrink direction I’m not sure :(

I love this show. They all deserve a big fat paycheck
on one hand I appreciate a TV show that wraps up when the character journeys are done and doesn't spin its wheels but on the other… man I'd be so bummed if we only had one more season of this show left.

I finally caught up with the most recent episode on sunday and it made this whole season click for me, I CRIED and have so many feelings
Sameee
i truly don't understand the hype around this show. it was ok.
It's all about timing, I think, since it happened when the world was overwhemingly shittier than usual so people needed something extra nice & wholesome. I don't think it deserves all the praise but I can definitely understand the hype.
It was better than everything else on tv when it dropped
i got it once i saw the christmas ep, it was heartwarming.

All deserved! I love this show so much. Imagine going from 300,000 per episode to 1 MILLION per episode though damn. Well actually, imagine making 300,000 at all lmao

I really hope they’ll do more than 3 seasons though, pls @ jason

Ultimately, the future of the show is up to Sudeikis, a father of two who spends six or seven months out of the year filming the show in London.
And? It’s called method acting, look it up
Reminds me of how RDJ made $500k for the first Iron Man movie, made $50 mil for The Avengers, then made like $75 mil for Civil War iirc?

Yes, Jason! Take that pain of being separated from your kids and channel it into Ted's pain!

Apple has the big money for the music for the show so, yes pay them.

Hannah is the best and deserves better writing for her character

I really like this show and I'm enjoying season 2 (glad it's 2 episodes longer than the first) despite all the weird backlash.

I'd be impressed if sudeikis stuck to his guns and kept it at 3 seasons - rather go out as he envisioned instead of taking the cash grab. we'll see...
This show is a good show and I like it but Hacks stole the show for me comedy wise so I'm going to be a bit disappointed when this show sweeps at the emmys and not Hacks tbh

While I won't be mad about Ted Lasso winning, Hacks was fucking great and I hope it picks up something.
I think Jean Smart is on lock to win best actress but honestly while I like Ted Lasso a lot and won't be really mad if they win because it deserves it, I think Hacks is the better show overall
