Erin Andrews, 43, revealed that she is currently undergoing in vitro fertilization treatments to try to start a family with husband Jarret Stoll. She has been undergoing IVF since she was 35.
Trying to balance “sometimes working up to 14 hours a day” and setting aside time for IVF has been a “challenging” time.
Because of her age, her body is also “stacked against” her, making the process even more difficult.
She is sometimes forced between her career and wanting to have a child.
She sometimes still feels like it is “embarrassing” and wants to keep her IVF process on the down low.
She is learning to embrace being more vocal about it.
That part of wanting to keep it all a secret was the fear of not wanting to “jinx it.”
"I work in an industry where I think women feel the need to keep things like this quiet. But no, there are so many other women who maybe put their careers on the back burner because they don’t want to miss out on any opportunities. It’s so common that people are starting families late and put so many other aspects of their lives on hold. I am thankful I did it. They encouraged me to be open about it because this is real life. It’s not like I’m leaving to go take a hot yoga class, I’m trying to have a baby. I am not ashamed, and I want to be vocal and honest about this.”
Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September 2016.
