• News broke earlier today that actress Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Impeachment: American Crime Story) will play Fanny Brice in the upcoming revival of Funny Girl
• The show will be returning to Broadway for the first time in 58 years and will be directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening)
• In a statement provided at the source Feldstein says: "The first time I played Fanny Brice was at my third birthday party, in a head-to-toe leopard print outfit my mom made for me. So, it's safe to say that stepping into this iconic role, on Broadway and not in my family's backyard, is truly my lifelong dream come true. I am immensely grateful to be able to do so alongside such a remarkable creative team, and cannot wait for audiences to get back in theaters again!"
• Rumors of a revival had persisted for years, most recently back in 2014 when Lea Michele said that she and Glee producer Ryan Murphy had bought the rights to the musical and was planning on staging a revival. Murphy would go on to shoot those rumors down a year later.
