'tick, tick... BOOM!' Teaser Trailer

Lin-Manuel Miranda makes his feature directorial debut with tick, tick…BOOM!, an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theater as the creator of Rent.

The film follows Jon (Andrew Garfield), a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?

Starring Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, with Judith Light, and Vanessa Hudgens.

tick, tick...BOOM! is on Netflix this Fall.

I'm not familiar with this show but I hate Rent so I was ready to write it off until I saw MJ Rodriguez and Joshua Henry's names. I've seen Joshua in a few shows and loved his voice. MJ is also such a great singer and I'm happy to see her get work outside of Pose!
yessss joshua henry! did you see him in 'the wrong man' off-broadway? he was breathtakingly perfect; i was so blown away. i'm still upset the show never went anywhere!
Yes! I remember not loving everything about that show, but he had a really magnetic presence. I also saw him Carousel and Shuffle Along (which I'm still mad didn't last longer). Shuffle Along had such a stacked cast (Audra McDonald, Billy Porter, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Adrienne Warren, Brandon Victor Dixon) but Joshua still stood out as a great talent.
Ugh this musical was such a time in my life. 15 years old, theater kid af, just gobbling up every musical I could find. Come To Your Senses was an audition song for me for awhile. Louder Than Words was the deepest shit to my 15 year old ass. It's still very lovely.

Sorry, just reminiscing. I'm... intrigued by this movie, to say the least.
I don't know the theater that well, but I love Rent, so this is right down my alley.
Andrew Garfield is no Raul Esparza, and I sort of dread hearing him sing 30/90, which is probably my favorite song from the musical. I’ll probably watch this even though I’m meh on almost everyone involved with it.
I've never thought they would do a movie of this musical, so kudos.
I really have to give it to Vanessa Hudgens for trying so hard to be seen as a "Broadway/musical star".
