Frenemies Podcast Is Over... Again

After a recent on-air dispute over money, percentages and whether the crew of the podcast deserve to get paid as much as they do, Youtuber Trisha Paytas has announced they are stepping down from the Frenemies Podcast, their venture with Ethan Klein of h3h3 Productions.

Summary of the video:

  • Realized they don't regret what they said this time when they usually do and aren't sorry

  • Thought they were 50/50 building the show, but Ethan saw them as just talent and he was the showrunner

  • Says Ethan was talking over them when they tried to talk about LGBTQ+ hate crimes and never listened to their ideas, which include an aerial gymnastics episode, dancing with the stars and clay pottery.

  • Was especially triggered because Ethan hired a new employee for the podcast and immediately used her advice segment idea

  • Trisha earned 50/50 of all revenue from the main Frenemies episodes & merch by just showing up every week, but wanted part of the money from h3h3 memberships and highlights channel

  • Says their main issue is walking into something that Ethan already built & felt uncomfortable with the crew, who are the same crew as the other h3h3 podcasts. Didn't like their inside jokes, etc. Mentions that when they first guested on the main h3h3 podcast, the crew said whether they would fuck Trisha or not. Fails to mention that Trisha brought up the topic in the first place by saying that everyone they meet wants to fuck them.

  • Says if they knew they were walking into a third h3h3 show, they wouldn't have done it.

  • Says over and over again its not about money... but it seems like it is.

  • Says its best for them to step down but is sad because thinks its a really fun show and should continue with someone else

In a Youtube video posted after the incident, Paytas shared their side of the story and said in a comment beneath the video:
hey guys! I see a lot of your comments and you think I'm making a mistake, or being unreasonable - I hear you, and I'm not here to combat that. I'm leaving to ease the tension everywhere. I don't want to be the toxicity in their machine. and I can feel that I am. and it's not good for anyone involved. i'm sorry so many of you are disappointed in me. or that you only became a fan of me again through the show. but I cannot continue. If this makes me look selfish or a brat, so be it. I am grateful for the opportunity - but it just is not good for me mentally anymore. and it could be my own brain attacking me but for myself, right now, I just need to disengage completely. this is without a doubt, the hardest decision I've ever made. and it definitely was the most successful thing I've been a part of, so it's with a super heavy heart that I cannot continue. I'm so so sorry from the bottom of my heart. I don't know what else to say or how to convey what I'm going through right now without making things worse. and I'm clearly terrible at explaining my emotions and thoughts right now. again, I'm sorry to disappoint. and that's all I can say

Edit: Ethan Klein has released a Youtube video, giving his side of the story.

Additionally, Paytas has come under fire for sharing tweets between themselves and Klein with an anti-semitic joke about being "Jewy".

Trisha has also posted two more videos after their initial one, as well as tweets apologizing but the crew is apparently very mad and it seems unlikely the podcast will actually continue this time

Currently sipping my coffee and watching the 3 response videos she dropped this morning.

I totally understand her point of wanting to hire a producer for the show because the show has always been an unorganized mess.

She also mentioned wanting a camera person for vlogs and segments. The vlogs they've been putting out are not good. Terrible quality, shakey, and hard to watch.

She should have just hired/paid a producer/assistant for herself so she had someone to advocate for her. It would have solved so many of the issues they're both complaining about.

I enjoyed the mess and I'm sad to see it end.

Also, why was the crew responsible for planning every show the day before? Have they never heard of promotion meetings? When I worked in the entertainment industry I had to suffer through those on a weekly basis. Trisha should be doing more than just showing up and filming the show and should actually be helping plan it with everyone.

Guess that's what happens when you have a bunch of amateurs trying to create something. They need to stop hiring fans for their staff and hire actual professionals who know what they're doing.

(Also can't edit my original post so my apologies for saying she instead of they)
I agree with you on that point. Ethan’s operation is much too amateurish to handle a difficult ~star~ like Trisha. You need to be pros to pull that off.

It was never going to work.
They were responsible because Trisha literally didn't want to plan anything and this crew works on 2-3 other shows for the company.

And maybe I'm sensitive cause I work in entertainment as well but to call the crew a bunch of amateurs is incredibly dismissive when they've all worked for H3 or other media companies for years and on YT for that matter where they literally have to do everything themselves and don't have an agency to help.

Ethan addressed this in his video, saying that that on air discussion was the first time she had said anything about wanting a producer just for Frienemies. And that when they talked later, he agreed it was a good idea, and said yes. That everything seemed fine. And then she dropped her video, saying that she wanted her own producer and she quit.

He also mentioned - and it has been confirmed on the show in the past - that Trisha has complained about them bugging her with planning for the podcast. She would not answer calls or texts about it. That the crew works all week on making these things happen, but she just wants to show up the day of the show. And she doesn't seem to understand how much work goes into making her random ideas happen, and happen quickly.

Also, it's fine to use she - Trisha has stated that she is fine with the pronoun.

if you platform an antisemitic ghoul and allow the monster to go on a redemption arc then you get what u deserve when the monster inevitably turns on u
Yes. I can’t feel bad for him. There were telling moments to me on the podcast. She is guilty of things they spent a lot of their time trying to cancel other people for.

This one time he mentioned in passing the Fine brothers were “canceled” and she asked why and he hand waived over it. Why? Because they did blackface, something she has done.

The sexual assault stuff got me. They were both such advocates for survivors and condemning perpetrators… and then she goes on bragging about how much money she’s made from a porn vid with a guy that has been accused of sexual assault multiple times?? Something she knew of when she made the vid?

He danced with the devil for sure.
They have some valid issues, but how greedy do you have to be to complain about how much the crew is making? Get your nose out of my coins.
Oh man. This post needs updating. Ethan posted a video response and brought receipts. Proving Trisha is a pathological liar and generally defending himself.

Since then she has posted 3 more videos. Is obviously in the midst of a tantrum/meltdown and has tweeted fake defenses like posting the same screenshots Ethan did in his video except she deleted some of her own texts.

It’s a scene.
ooohhh got a link ? None of the drama channels have posted updates dammit
This has actually been heartbreaking in a lot of ways. She really fucked up with this one. This podcast truly gave her a redemption arch. Hell even I was supporting her at one point. To go so public with no warning the morning after they had a conversation she didn't like. To talk like that about the show while on air. To make an anti-semetic comments to her future Jewish business partner is uh.. all very unprofessional to say the least. Ethan isn't an angel, but I feel like nothing she is saying warrants the smear campaign she's been on the past 24-48 hours. I work in production, her deal feels extremely generous to me. This was such a stupid move, she will regret this. She's marrying into the family as well ugh. You don't do this to family.
Is her campaign working for the general public?

I spend my time on the pro-Trisha and pro-Ethan subreddits and all seem to agree that Trisha is digging herself the world’s biggest hole.
I had friends who don't follow youtube at all ask me about this podcast before, saying they were fans. I feel like they were crossing over that threshold. RIP
Nothing heartbreaking about her ‘redemption arc’ falling apart, it’s wonderful actually. She is a monstrous and awful piece of shit, and it’s disgusting that she’s constantly forgiven for her shit.
It'll probably come back someday, Trisha's just throwing a tantrum for more money. Her use of the J-word points violently to that. Oh, violently. Hate when people try to use woke things as a shield-don't pretend you're suddenly this crusader for minority rights who was slapped to the floor for caring too much when in reality you're going up to a Jewish family and rubbing your hands in a stereotypical insulting manner using slurs and threatening them lol.
I still don't know who this is lol
you are so lucky tbh
You don't need to, don't make my mistake lol
lol same. I just know they're even shittier than the average YouTuber, which is saying a lot.
Don’t read anything bb, just keep living your beautiful life tbh
I know who she is (just from what is posted here) but I have no idea who the guy is.
Is she still horribly anti-semetic?
yes! and she very recently claimed not to know what the holocaust was and people simply took her at face value because her stans are collectively brain damaged 😔
What the fuck. I will never understand why people stick up for her stupid ass.
Ethan showed a text exchange where they were discussing the merch and he said that they would split the 30% revenue margin or something (aka she would make a lot and Ethan would likely break even) and she said something like "that's so Jewy"

Trishas pinned tweet refers to Trisha as her so clearly she is fine with both she/her and they/them.
Trisha had a good thing going and fucked it up. They just self sabotage themselves. Ethan seemed to genuinely care about them. How they are going to get past this is beyond me. They are engaged to ethans BIL. Gonna be some awkward family dinners in the future.
i'm not sure if they will get past it... trisha is currently calling ethan a liar and saying they'll never forgive them on twitter. typical antics but based on ethan's H3 video i think he's sick of it all too. walking on eggshells, putting up with them saying bad things about jewish people, people with tourette's, etc.

i've also seen people speculate that hila's pregnancy may have set trisha off this time, which i could buy. she seems really triggered by their happy family persona, based on what she said during the last meltdown
this was so ghetto nnnnn
I honestly have no idea who they are?
I’m not surprised. She pretty much inevitably turns on just about everyone close to her and it’s not the first time she’s lashed out at him. At some point, you take that risk by keeping someone you know is so volatile around you. It was really just a matter of time, but I do think she’s making a mistake. The show got her a TON of goodwill.

Clearly Trisha is wrong here but I'm not going to be on Team Ethan since he's trash too. Also, something must seriously be wrong with Moses Hacmon for being engaged to someone who fetishizes Jewish people like this and lashes out at his mild-mannered sister whenever anything goes wrong.
My working theory is that he is a clout chaser/star fucker.

Yeah their relationship is not as zen and balanced as their fans seem to think. Trisha absolutely abused him on at least one occasion (a picture of his bruise leaked when she wouldn’t let him leave their house iirc) and Trisha definitely lashes out at him presently. I know they’ve said they’re in therapy and deeply regrets that behavior but that’s not the kind of thing you just forgive and forget.

There’s something wrong with all of them for thinking this is a good match. If I were Hila I’d be having a serious talk with Moses b/c trishas behavior and his reactions/motivations are clearly fucked.
idk how he's gonna back out of the engagement now since he owns half of their mansion lol. good luck to this man.
He won't back out, he's been pouring gasoline on this dumpster fire since the beginning. He enables her weird fetishization of Judaism and dgaf when she attacks his sister. Honestly if he was a decent person he would have never crossed that professional boundary from when she first appeared on the podcast with Ethan and it was super tense in the first place.
There is definitely something wrong with Moses.

Families have their own dramas and baggage, people have their own personalities and styles. Maybe he is not as invested in having a loving relationship with his sister as she is with him. Maybe he doesn't care if his fiance hates his sister and wants her out of their life. That sort of stuff happens in families all the time, fair or not.

But the way Trisha has consistently said anti-Semitic things and says she asked Moses and he told her it was fine... That's weird. He is actively encouraging her behavior. I can't even wrap my head around it.

I used to watch H3 years ago and stopped and never watched Trisha just cause their vids weren't for me. Discovered that Frenemies was still a thing a few days ago, watched a bunch of vids and was like "wow this is oddly fascinating" and then this happened lol.

OP you might want to add Ethan's video he released last night cause it gives a lot more context, like how Ethan initially tried to get Trisha to be more involved on a producer level (i.e. not just coming up with ideas but actually helping executing them) and Trisha told him to stop texting so much. It's fine that they didn't want to be so involved, but then they can't complain that they were never listened to.

It's WILD that they were making 50% of the revenue from videos for just being talent. That's unheard of. And to then publicly complain about 5% is just... Something else. And on top of that telling Ethan to fire his current crew so they can hire her own is insane since they've quit the show now 3 times. Ethan owns the company and has been footing the bill for Frenemies, so A. It makes no financial sense for him to do that and B. Way to shit on the current crew and basically say they need to be fired and C. Trisha has essentially fucked up their merch launch that according to Ethan was funded by H3 (Ethan) and Teddy Fresh (Hila) and now they're out a shit load of money. And even if they do manage to sell all of it now, 50% will go to Trisha.

Trisha clearly has mental health issues and has been open about it, but they shouldn't be on this kind of show. It doesn't look like it but shows like this take a lot of fucking work and for anyone to tell the crew that makes it happen that they're lazy and should get fired really rubs me the wrong way.

Hope Trisha gets proper help one day and that they can fix their personal relationship with Ethan. I officially know way too much about all of this lol, but I think it's important that more context was given. Trisha fucked up, period.

Also called Hila a bitch and a c*nt the second time they had a meltdown and quit and ngl that would have been it for me.
I cannot believe Ethan didn't pull the plug when Trisha called Hila those things. No normal husband would allow that.
I think you're giving straight men a little too much credit but I also want to point out that from what what little I've seen, that this dude is a douche and would be an incel if he hadn't won the lottery by meeting her literally right after her IDF service. In some random video Hila made a harmless comment like, "I would bet all my money that.." and this dude cut in with a, "It's my money."

I actually think Hila is just as invested, if not more, in keeping things friendly with Trisha. She has been pretty open about how when they are fighting with Trisha, it made things extremely strained with her relationship with her brother (since Moses is engaged to Trisha). And that she was really upset and crying about it.

Hila usually prefers that Ethan not fight or engage with drama period, in order to keep the peace.
