Joseph Gordon-Levitt tweeted about Inception, fans lose their shit in the replies

- ONTD favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently tweeted about Inception, particularly the moment where the character Eames (played by Tom Hardy) says to Arthur (played by JGL) the classic line “You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.”

- Collectively, 2010 fandom were empowered by this recognition of the Arthur/Eames pairing as canon. From local stans to the infamous Aja, they all lost their shit in the replies and quotes.

- Despite the lack of recognizable pre-existing characters, Inception remains a fandom rarity in the amount of fic it spawned.

Were you ashamed of 2010 you who crushed on this man, ONTD? Do you still have fond feelings for Inception?

Do you have any fic recs?

What is he doing these days?
he has an apple show coming out in august, it was actually just announced yesterday

https://ew.com/tv/mr-corman-first-look-joseph-gordon-levitt-apple-tv/

they moved filming to new zealand because of covid and i think he lives there now
Wut.
He does, he talked about living in New Zealand on Fallon last month.
oh man, the tattoos this ship inspired..... choises were made
It is racism that these ancillary white men who had like all of five lines of dialogue exchange with each other inspired such a big fandom while JDW's character in Tenet gets paid dust when he has a much more compelling relationship with Rpattz!!! [Spoiler (click to open)]

Ok I'm half kidding bc obv I recognize that Inception was a better and much more accessible movie that didn't come out during a pandemic, and yeah when I watched Tenet for the first time a few days ago, I was confused and bewildered within the first 15 seconds and would remain that way pretty much the entire movie, but the ending was so soft and lovely smhhh why did it make me want to immediately rewatch a movie that I found tedious the first time around lol?? as a Batman fan, I have long resented Christopher Nolan since I really don't like the gritty Batman in his dark knight trilogy) and I HATE the prestige and just am neutral about inception (satoshi kon did it better), but wow maybe I have to turn in my Nolan hater card bc I really liked Dunkirk.... and now this shit??? Smh @ myself

Anyway this is to say that I hope even 0.01% of eames/arthur fans watch tenet and then create fanfic or fanart bc I believe that there has to be someone out there who can do a better job rewriting this story 🤣
Neil/Protagonist was hindered by the weird no reason for the attachment to Elizabeth Diblecki + there was no breathing room in the movie. Inception was great because it was so much of a heist and we got scenes of planning.

Tenent just moved from one action scene to the next.
I started Tenet last night (again, and got halfway through before falling asleep like the first time lol) and am having a lot better time with it, but I am noticed a lot less Neil/Protag fandom media than any white dude pairing which, quelle surprise. But this artist I follow on tumblr makes GORGEOUS Neil/Protag art, so I've been getting kicks through them T_T
Sharing is caring, drop a link sis! 🤗 Chinese twitter has some really good art too!
I see subtext in everything but tbh I don't really get Arthur/Eames. I think JGL and Tom Hardy have good chemistry in the movies, but is there that much material to support THAT much fan output? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway, I guess we should breathe a sigh of relief that at least Tenet fans didn't just pair the white guys with each other (like Neil and Ives, or Neil with Sator omg)....a dangerously likely scenario, knowing fandom!

Tenet would have spawned a huge fandom if the pandemic wouldn’t happen. I love it and think it’s a better film than Inception
I felt nothing from this movie and I can't explain why. I think it lacks the charm of '90s and 00s blockbusters because with those movies, there's always some element of weirdness there that actually elevates them. With Nolan, he's so clinical.
Yes! Clinical is the perfect word to describe Nolan's films. I still refuse to credit him for Arthur/Eames because of all little nuances they brought to their role even with the bajillions of unnecessary quick cuts throughout the film. Nolan does not know how to hold back and let the scene breathe, and the actors act and marinate in their roles. There's also way to much exposition via Ariadne in the last half of the film but that's a tangent for another post.

I cannot imagine the Arthur/Eames fandom being as big as it had they casted James Franco instead of JGL.

Who the hell would crush on JGL when you have Tom Hardy right there? When you have Tom Hardy period?

This will always be one of my favorite movies. I remember the feeling of leaving the theater afterward, completely blown away, chills down my spine from "Time" still ringing in my ears, and contemplating the ending lol. This was also the second movie I've ever paid to see in IMAX as well. Worth every penny. The first was "Avatar" and I stand by the opinion that that movie was a fun ride the first time around, don't judge me.
Oh man, I missed all this! Tried to watch Inception at a friend's house but couldn't follow along and then just gave up. Years later I figured out I actually really like Ken Watanabe but it had died down and there was very little fandom fun to be had. :-/

I love Inception and I still watch the movie when it comes on. I read fic more often than actually watching the movie, though. Saito/anyone they'll ship him with, basically. There are so few to choose from it's disappointing.

Inception also made me try my hand at controlling my dreams. Never worked (the people in my dreams attack or a malevolent spirit comes for me once I realize I'm dreaming) but interesting to try.
What a time to be alive.
This and the first Avengers are such quintessential '10 films. I have such vivid memories of going to the theater to see this and being a casual fan in the fandom. It isn't a great movie but it's fun, and it's sad Nolan can't accept that and make more films like it

i still can't believe that one line spawned ALL THOSE FANFICS...the power this ship had on me back in 2010/2011 lmaooo this ship also reminds me of the early days of tumblr when shipping didn't lead to INTENSE discourse like how it is now.

does anyone remember that football AU fic by whiskyrunner? it's a shame they took down the entire fic series (i remember being so invested in that fic series), but they were very kind of enough to let me save them as word docs lol
Omg, I also love that author's works, though I've never read their Arthur/Eames, I've read their (get this) Bane/John Blake stuff. I bet some fanfic authors would be amazed to realize their level of name recognition.

I liked inception, but the characters never interested me enough to read fanfic of it
I had a crush on him since angels in the outfield 😍
I remember all the ONTD party posts here but never read them. Same with the Dark Knight ones.
Oh, and who's that user here with the JGL/Claudia Schiffer icon? I've always admired it.
