Ridiculous Starbucks Drink Orders Go Viral

It started when a Starbucks barista (Josie) shared a very detailed drink order he made on May 1st. He captioned the image with, “On todays episode of why i wanna quit my job.” Ashley Nicole Black from HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show responded, “I knew it had to be an app order. No one would order that out loud making eye contact.”

my usual morning order is a doubleshot on ice or a cold brew with whatever form of milk I'm feeling that day and a few pumps of SF vanilla

is it reasonably priced? no. is it the best coffee I've ever had? also no. but it tastes the same every time unlike Dunkin which I'm on the verge of giving up on alltogether

I get really heated when I witness odd orders. Why are you making the barista's life hard? To the point that I have several stories on reserve to whip out for posts like this.

This all happened on one day, back when I was in undergrad. I was in the student union over the summer when parents and soon to be freshman descend on the campus and all their raw energy makes me feel like a nervous high schooler and I was a senior at this point. I'm trying to grab a drink before my shift and the long is one of the longest I've ever seen. Nevertheless, I decide to persevere.

1) First person to upset is right in front of me. The worker steps out from the pastry case and asks if there's any food they could get started. The person responds with their drink order. NOT what the worker asked for, she's trying to get pastries started to move the line, but okay. She orders a hot tea. At the register, her tea is handed to her. She says she wanted to decaf. To her credit, she realized she didn't say it, but whatever. I was already annoyed with her.

2) I've now ordered my drink and am waiting by the counter for it. (Side note: why don't people get that you should wait in relatively the same order as you ordered? Standing closer to the counter won't speed up your drink being made and now we all have to climb over you. Which is what was happening that day.)

A man is handed his iced coffee. He hands it back and asks for less ice. The worker is confused but does it. Hands it back. Guy asks for more ice removed. Bewildered, she asks how many cubes he wants. He says three.

I know Starbucks is pretty big on helping the customer, but the line is at least 20 people deep at this point. Go to the garbage can that is less than 10 feet away and do this yourself.

3) This is the one that really brings it all together. I'm still near the counter and can hear everything. The barista taking the oder comes over to the one making drinks and says, "I'm going to write this down but I have to explain it. She wants whip in the middle."

"In the middle?"

"Yes, she wants a layer of frappuccino, then whipped cream, then another layer of frapp."

Maybe it's not as egregious to you, but I could see in these workers eyes that it was too much.
Oh man, this is far too long. But it's been over five years and I'm still annoyed how little awareness these people had.
People who take too long in line are all nemeses.
I go out of my way to not be an asshole to service workers. This shit happens a lot during the holidays too
That is disgusting. Do these people like come up with these orders on their own making multiple orders to get that perfect sugar filled beverage or just order something they saw on Tik Tok.
this makes me feel so much better about what i think is my obnoxious order (decaf iced caramel macchiato upside down with soy & add cinnamon dolce topping)
Just so you know, you could just order that as a vanilla latte with caramel drizzle (etc customizations). Since a caramel macchiato is basically a vanilla latte with the shots on top instead of the bottom (plus the caramel drizzle of course). I don't think the price will differ, but it's less likely to be messed up if they forget the upside down part. I think there's ordinarily a difference between the definition of macchiatos and lattes in terms of foam, i don't remember, but the typical starbucks barista is not going to prepare them any differently.
i bet you the person who ordered this probably didn't even think to leave a tip either
that just makes my stomach hurt

i hate making like 2 changes to an order, let alone all that. how do you even remember it all to order it. also how does it even taste like anything when there are 30 different flavours!?
also this reminds me of when i stopped by a starbucks in Safeway before work one day (like... pre-COVID) and these two teens with their mom were ahead of me and the girls were ordering some viral insta (pre tiktok) random ass drink and the poor woman was just like... we dont do that. and their mom was being all pissy with her like well it says here.... and she was like its not a menu item. if you tell me whats in it, i can try. and it took like 5+ min to figure out one fucking drink and I was like :| it is EIGHT IN THE MORNING. this is barely even a real STARBUCKS, leave these people be.
these orders might as well be ancient egyptian hieroglyphics like what in the fuck is all of that

anyway caramel macchiato and vanilla soy chai latte>>>>
Why do these people not accept that they just don't like coffee?

I don't like coffee. I think it's disgusting. So I just drink tea instead of putting 58 different kinds of sugar shots into a coffee.
I don’t do dairy beverages and Starbucks hopped on the oatmilk trend way too late for me. I quit my caffeine habit a year ago but I sometimes still buy a tea. Starbucks doesn’t have good tea beverages, though, so they don’t really have anything to offer me anymore. They’ve really suffered with their product, IMO. Might be an unpopular opinion but I think their snacks are far better than their beverages.
Does these even taste good? I bet it just tastes like sugar.
i dont deny that its possible some weird freak of nature human ordered this drink unironically and enjoyed it, its also entirely possible someone did this to fuck with them or in an attempt to go viral. im cynical these days, people are bored, we're in a pandemic and everyone wants their twitter fifteen minutes.
Geez. How would someone even discover they like such a drink in the first place? Do they just keep adding stuff? Lolz.

I always just order a simple latte from Sbux. Perhaps a frap the rare occasion I’m feeling ~frisky~
when you order on the app, there's a full page of customizations offered, so people go nuts adding what they think would be good

can't speak for this person, but you know
this makes my stomach hurt lmao. starbucks is grooooooosssssssssssss.

I work at a specialty coffee roastery so I get incredible coffee for free and I'm a snobby bitch about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I usually make myself an iced latte w honey and oat milk!
I don't get why this would go viral. People post ridiculous orders like this all the time in the starbucks reddit.
I’m not part of the Starbucks Reddit, I didn’t know people did this outside that unicorn one
i'm so glad i decided to finally quit that place last year after almost nine years, whew
i'm two years in and im finally at the point where i cry when i come home. it's sad.
ugh i'm so sorry. the first two years for me was bliss, but the company has changed SO MUCH that i don't see how anyone that comes in now enjoys it. there's truly no life there anymore.
