Disneyland's new Snow White ride criticized for including Prince Charming's 'non-consensual' kiss

The Snow White ride at Disneyland has received some controversy for depicting the scene where Prince Charming wakes up Snow White with a kiss.

Theme park reviewers Katie Dowd and Julie Tremaine addressed the issue in an article on SFGate, writing that the kiss is one "he gives to her without her consent, while she's asleep, which cannot possibly be true love if only one person knows it's happening. Haven't we already agreed that consent in early Disney movies is a major issue? That teaching kids that kissing, when it hasn't been established if both parties are willing to engage, is not okay?"

"Theme park reviewer"

now, how do i get this job title??
This is stupid.
oh brother
oh jeez
sidestepping the debate issues, this ride and the Mr. Toad and Pinocchio ride are supposed to be terrifying. like, look it up on Youtube years later and say ~woah I didn't imagine that! they really got away with that~ terrifying for young and old. you thought Disney was all laughs and smiles--- now you're a donkey sent to Hell! terrifying.

like, when I went on this ride when I was little, the eyes on the trees ALONE haunted me for years.

now, in their efforts to make things ~nicer~, they end up incorporating a different, but less visually dramatic, fear.

at least they finally learned their lessons on Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain tho...

I didn't know about Splash Mountain! It was my favourite when I went as a child. I was able to go on it again some years back though, so it's nice I got to go on it one last time before they made this very wise and overdue change lol.
