Sony has announced the new trio set to directed the Into the Spider-Verse sequel: Kemp Powers, Joaquin Dos Santos and Justin K. Thompson.
Kemp Powers is a double-Oscar nominee this year for co-directing Soul and writing One Night in Miami.
Joaquin Dos Santos is a producer, director, and storyboard artist of such animated shows like Avatar: the Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and Justice League Unlimited.
Justin K Thompson was the Production Designer of the original Spider-Verse film as well as the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs films. He's also worked on animated shows like the Powerpuff Girls, Spongebob, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the latter of which won him an Emmy in 2005.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller will return to produce. They'll also write the script with Shang-Chi's David Callaham.
The sequel is set for October 7, 2022.
