Former UK Big Brother star Nikki Grahame has died at age 38. She had been battling anorexia and checked into a private hospital last month in hopes of beating the illness.
Grahame appeared on Big Brother in 2006 and was a prominent contestant, finishing in fifth place and winning an National Television Award for most popular TV contender. She returned in 2010 for Ultimate Big Brother where she finished in second place, and went on to become a TV personality in her own right with her reality show Princess Nikki as well as several guest appearances.
In 2009 Grahame released her first autobiography, Dying To Be Thin which documented her struggle with anorexia, followed by a second book in 2012 titled Fragile. Last month a fundraising page was set up, saying Grahame was in "a very bad way" and appealed to fans for donations to help her get treatment. Her death was confirmed in a statement by her manager:
"It is with great sadness, we have to let you know that our dear friend Nikki passed away in the early hours of Friday, 9 April."
