TWEWY News: NEO The World Ends With You gets a Release Date + Anime Opening Song Controversy

First lets start off with the good news! After months of silence we finally get an update on the sequel NEO: The World Ends With You and we also got a release date of July 27th, 2021!

The trailer mainly features all the new (and returning) characters plus the voice actors as well as gameplay. NEO: The World Ends With You will be available on the Switch and PS4 as well on the PC (Epic Game Store exclusive for now) sometime in the Summer.

This news of course was in tangent with celebrating the release of the for the first episode of The World Ends With You anime. But unfortunately some bad news fell upon the series literal days before the first episode premiered.

The opening was originally gonna be done by the band ALI and was called "TEENAGE CITY RIOT" but recently the drummer of the band got arrested for bank fraud (yikes) so Sony Music Label went ahead and suspended any use of the band's music so that means the anime production team had no choice but to remove the song entirely and choose a new song for the opening. And even if you look on youtube all traces of previous trailers that showcased the song have been wiped out except for on third party sources like IGN. Meanwhile OP is mourning because it sounded like an actual bop.

The anime went ahead and continue to air its first episode April 9th repleacing where the song would have been originally in the episode with a song from the original game called "Calling". They will be choosing a new song for the second episode onwards but it hasn't been annonunced yet.

While we'll most likely never get the full song or even the shortened 1:30 version any time in the near future this is the best we are gonna get for now for anyone who wants to enjoy it:
