Joss Whedon reportedly threatened Gal Gadot's career during Justice League reshoots

* Whedon and Gadot reportedly further clashed when he made changes to the script and wanted her to record new lines she didn't feel aligned with the character;

* Gadot had "issues about her character being more aggressive than her character in 'Wonder Woman.";

* Whedon allegedly said he would do damage to Gadot's career if she didn't bend. A witness claimed, "He told her he's the writer and she's going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie."

Whedon also reportedly disparaged fellow director Patty Jenkins, who helmed the two Wonder Woman movies.

Scum bag. We also forgetting Johns was involved too. Gal refused to leave her trailer while they basically threatened her. No wonder Henry Cavill called it quits. Seems like it was toxic. I'm glad justice league flopped and Snyder's version is getting acclaim. Makes WB look pathetic. Let's keep at it. End Joss Whedon. We need more hit pieces.
There was just a piece on Johns in the LA Times about how he rejected Regé-Jean Page being the lead of 'Krypton'/Superman's grandfather because (and I quote) "the exec believed fans expected the character to look like a young Henry Cavill."

Oop.
this part of the HR ray fisher article got me good lmao, dude is literally like RIDDLE ME THIS, HOW CAN I BE ANTI-BLACK IF MY EX-WIFE IS BLACK????? Johns' spokesperson says: "What were standard continuity notes for a scene are being spun in a way that are not only personally offensive to Geoff, but to the people that know who he is, know the work he's done and know the life he lives, as Geoff has personally seen firsthand the painful effects of racial stereotypes concerning hair and other cultural stereotypes, having been married to a Black woman who he was with for a decade and with his second wife, who is Asian American, as well as his son who is mixed race."

also this lol Johns' rep denies that he ever dismissed any comments, adding that Fisher knew Johns — whose spokesperson requested that he be identified as Lebanese American — "had evolved traditionally all-white DC properties like Shazam, Justice Society of America and others into diverse groups of heroes" in his extensive work as a comic book author.

fucking disaster
I guess Hollywood bobos have no use for him anymore, for all this to come out and not even a D-lister piping up with a "he inspired me!"comment.
I hope he never works again, he sounds like a conceited worm.

Yeah, Joss, I’m so sure Wonder Woman superstar Gal Gadot was so scared she’d be on the bad side of, uh ... *checks notes*

Nathan Fillion and Alyson Hannigan
To be fair, at this point in time he'd directed the biggest movie in the world, so unfortunately his threats DID have some pull.
Lol I know, and that he’s a threat to people with lower statuses than her. I just wanted to make a joke at the expense of his ego.

We've been knew about his shitty, shitty attitude all this time - FUCK HIM for his treatment of Charisma Carpenter and how he wanted to film a gangrape scene for another actress' character on Firefly - and I'm glad he's getting a reckoning.

It's not the one I want where people loudly trash and denounce him and he's dropped like the flaming pile of shit he is but it's the one he deserves - Him fading from relevancy as people move on and he's truly known as the hack he is after all his stuff recently has been nothing but duds. There was nothing special about his shit because EVERYTHING was executed by the cast and crew DESPITE HIM, not BECAUSE OF him.

Hope he gets a boil on his heel.
Gang rape on Firefly?!
Copy-paste from here:

But also, we learned part of Inara's huge secret: she's dying of some terminal disease, which is only vaguely hinted at in one episode. And executive producer Tim Minear explained about one episode that Joss Whedon pitched early on:

She had this magic syringe. She would take this drug. And if she were, for instance, raped, the rapist would die a horrible death. The story was that she gets kidnapped by Reavers and when Mal finally got to the ship to save her from the Reavers, he gets on the Reaver ship and all the Reavers are dead. Which would suggest a kind of really bad assault. At the end of the episode, he comes in after she's been horribly brutalized, and he comes in and he gets down on his knee, and he takes her hand. And he treats her like a lady. And that's the kind of stuff that we wanted to do. It was very dark. And this was actually the first story that Joss pitched to me when he asked me to come work on the show. He said, 'These are the kind of stories we're going to do.'

So, to sum up: Inara gets gang-raped by Reavers, who all die due to her drug use. And this finally convinces Mal to stop slut-shaming her, at least for a while. Kind of glad that episode never got made, to be honest.

imagine being the second choice director coming in at the literal last minute and thinking you can talk to the studio’s next tentpole star like that?
the male ego is fascinating, innit
I've heard both so not sure if it was Gal or her stunt double, but story is Gal refused to film the scene where The Flash faceplants into Diana's chest and GG's stunt double sided with her. Whedon locked one/ perhaps both of them into their trailer so he could film the scene with a body double while they were out of the way.
Interesting how Ezra didn’t refuse to film it
I think he locked the stunt double (I can't believe I'm writing that sentence) and Gal Gadot refused to come out of her trailer even though Whedon was threatening her
He should never work again where he's in any position of power. Or just ever.
i'm assuming his screenwriter father is why he has a career in the first place? nepotism kids stay entitled.
I had no idea about this
his dad wrote for Golden Girls. i think his grandfather was a screenwriter too.
rumors going around on twitter now about his behavior during filming for weekend at ultron's. allegedly, members of the cast had to frequently call kevin feige to try to control whedon during filming. nothing too specific has been said, but it'll be very interesting to see if anyone from the crew starts talking.
i hope this story breaks. age of ultron was the biggest mess
Evans and Hemsworth (Evans in particular though) made some “jokey” comments about Whedon being a terrible director during that press tour. After CATWS I can see why he disliked Whedon’s version of Steve
I'd believe. The one that stood out is when interviews for Ultron came around and Elizabeth said in one of the interviews that she wanted to do some scenes where she smiles or something like that in the movie or something like that and Joss told her no, she had to look angry all the time.

I feel like there more behind the scenes and I can't wait for the exposure.
I think what you're thinking of is that he told Elizabeth Olsen to not look ugly during her fight scenes because no one wants to look at an ugly face. So she had to try to control her face all the time to look pretty.

It would take him being rude to a white man like Chris Evans for.him to get cancelled.by film Twitter.
I would love for shit to start leaking about that film because it was a HOT. MESS.
Fuck him
Don't think I can watch Buffy ever again because of him.
I’d ask why this man was allowed to flourish for so long, but we already know the answer.
apparently Whedon and Ben Affleck were beefing so hard that Ben tried to get the cast do walk off the set with him (they refused btw)
was this early on when he took over? cause I can't imagine after all his bullshit why Ray and Gal wouldn't join Ben in a walk off
Supposedly mid filming when it started to get too toxic. Ben is an Alister so he prob felt comfortable doing it but seeing as WB let Whedon run the show and didn't care about the work environment the rest of the cast most likely got cold feet.
That moment when you’re a bigger asshole than Ben Affleck...
i was never a fan of his works so i never got the hype. i hope future directors/showrunners/whatever are discouraged from acting like him.
