In a new interview with The Telegraph, Ralph Fiennes came to the defense of J.K. Rowling, claiming to be unable to understand the "vitriol" toward the unapologetically transphobic author.
"I can understand the heat of an argument, but I find this age of accusation and the need to condemn irrational," the actor, who played Lord Voldemort in five of the Harry Potter films, said. "I find the level of hatred that people express about views that differ from theirs, and the violence of language towards others, disturbing."
In defending Rowling, Fiennes breaks from other members of the Harry Potter cast including star Daniel Radcliffe that have displayed solidarity with the trans community.
