Today in "We're back! A dinosaur Industry Story", the return of NYC theaters reopening at 25% capacity proved to be a boom.
It was easily the #1 market in the country, helped by new releases "Boogie", "Chaos Walking"∘, and "Raya and The Last Dragon", the latter of which looks to be #1 with 8m for the week, almost a year to the day where Disney's last wide release movie, "Onward", met the pandemic wall.
AMC CEO Adam Aron (Who recently got an almost 4m$ bonus for 2020 when most of his theaters were closed) went on CNBC yesterday to celebrate the reopening of NYC theaters. 13 of the chain’s locations in NYC were reopening. 90% of the chain's theaters are open coast to coat.
