The Mars Volta Have Something Coming

Long-dormant prog rock duo The Mars Volta might not be dormant for much longer. Clouds Hill (a German recording studio frequented by TMV guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López) shared a video teasing something "coming soon" from the band. The video features brief flashes of the Mars Volta logo and the words "La Realidad De Los Sueños," in addition to an image resembling the artwork from their debut album De-Loused in the Comatorium. The audio is also from the opening track on De-Loused, "Son et Lumiere."

In 2019, frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala shared in a since-deleted tweet that he and Rodríguez-López were working on new Mars Volta material as well as reissues: "When ORL played me a grip of new shit I fucking cried. [...] It's in its infancy right now. No dead lines, No ball tripping, No drama [...] PS: the back catalogue will be released as well and it will be high quality unlike that the fucking buffoon shit that universal bootlegged a couple years ago."

UPDATE: It's a box set! 18 LPs featuring the entire Mars Volta discography and previously unreleased material from the De-Loused in the Comatorium recording sessions, plus a photo book and two pins. Available to preorder now for ~$500, to be released on April 23rd.

Welp... hopefully they do individual reissues for each album lol
