“The way people talked about Britney Spears was terrifying to me then, and it still is now,” writes Mara Wilson. “Her story is a striking example of a phenomenon I’ve witnessed for years: Our culture builds these girls up just to destroy them.”https://t.co/LBdrHs0Pwq
Mara Wilson wrote an op-ed piece in the wake of the Britney Spears Documentary about the terrifying way child stars are treated, “The way people talked about Britney Spears was terrifying to me then, and it still is now,” writes Mara Wilson. “Her story is a striking example of a phenomenon I’ve witnessed for years: Our culture builds these girls up just to destroy them.”
Wilson also wrote that she was asked inappropriate questions during press junkets, "Reporters asked me who I thought the sexiest actor was and about Hugh Grant’s arrest for soliciting a prostitute."
“Britney and I learned the same lesson growing up: When you’re young and famous, there is no such thing as control.”, Mara wrote.
