Gen Z vs. Millenials: Hair Edition

A debate is raging on TikTok that is even more divisive than politics. In fact, it's about how you divide the hair on your head.

Gen Z'ers believe that center parts are where it's at. They think that your side part makes you look like an Old! Meanwhile, Millenials + Gen X + Gen Y are into side parts.

America is split... down the center and down the sides!

Which way do u part your hair?

Center
192(21.7%)
Side
463(52.3%)
Both
182(20.6%)
Neither
48(5.4%)

Ready for some hair wank? what's your hair look like now, ONTD?

the last time i had this much time, i was......well, i was however old Gen Z-ers are now

so this all fits
They can talk shit all they want I’m not one of the Haim sisters I can’t pull off a middle part
i've been middle parting my entire life and i'm a millennial so.....
It's not a generational thing, but a face shape thing???

as much as I love the drama of the generation wars, I hate this whole 'if you wear this thing/style yourself this way, then you're ____'. You need to style appropriately to how you look and feel. Insisting on trends is bad for your soul/your wallet/your self-esteem/the environment.
Yeah, my hair is parted where my natural part is. It's not any deeper than that.
but a face shape thing

my mom always encouraged me to do a side part because I "don't have the face for a middle part", lol.
Gen X and Millennials never seemed to get involved with these generational wars, but Gen Z is OBSESSED. Every week it's some new judgmental edict of how other people should live their lives. And there is no one way any generation does their hair. Meet new people if you think so.
i think gen x relishes being left alone while millennials are fucking tired of everything wrong in the world being attributed to us
We didn't really have the same kind of access to the Internet when we were younger. Want to read a thousand comments and articles about how the older generation is uncool? Better hope your parents don't need the phone so you can get online. It'll take you the whole time you're on to go to 2 different websites. Maybe you'll even have free minutes from Juno or AOL so you can visit 3 websites.

I used to get my hair cut with a middle part until about about 10-11 years ago. I was in my early 20s, and I was getting my hair done by my friend who was going to cosmetology school. He fucked up and cut a chunk of my hair WAY too short on one side because he was purposely trying to give me a side part that I didn't ask for. Lol. His instructor came came over to fix it and I had to part my hair on the side to cover it up. She told me that I needed to stop parting my hair down the middle because "you're not 12 years old anymore." I remember being SUPER mad about her comment on the inside, but I never had a middle part again. Now I just switch up which side I part my hair on every 6 months or so.
I’m a Xennial and I’m so fucking embarrassed for the Millenials who are posting about this. Teenagers think you’re old and uncool. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE

Get the fuck over it.

Both. Although, I much prefer a middle part. So, I’m selfishly glad they’re trendy again. lol

(Tbh, I’ve never heard anyone mention hair part preference outside of ONTD until very recently.)
Why are these children picking up the worst parts of the 90s?
Center part? Gen Z really are the new Boomers.

For real though, you should part your hair however it looks best. I don't even notice that kind of thing on other people tbh.
Is this a white people thing? Lol.
I have a natural, curly fro so there is no part lol. When I’ve had it straightened in the past, it’s always be a side part cuz my face is just too full for center parts. Tbh I think most ppl are kidding themselves thinking they look good with center parts. If you don’t hair bangs or super long hair + angular face, that shit rarely looks good
i hate this so much. i do not have a face for a middle part so side part for life.
My hair naturally parts to the middle when it's long and to the side when it's short. I'm getting a streak of white hair a la Rogue from X-Men, right in the middle of my crown. If I part my hair in the center, it stands out among the rest of my dark blonde hair and it looks like a bald patch :\

I can't believe I'm late for this post because I, a Millennial, have been parting my hair down the middle since 2003 lmao. And before that, it was my childhood bangs. I'm just lazy and it works so why change~

I will say the changing trends are interesting because I remember when, like, no one else had a middle part. (Very hipster thing to say I know.) It's a classic look though (thinking back to hippies etc.)
