Gen Z vs. Millenials: Hair Edition

A debate is raging on TikTok that is even more divisive than politics. In fact, it's about how you divide the hair on your head.

Gen Z'ers believe that center parts are where it's at. They think that your side part makes you look like an Old! Meanwhile, Millenials + Gen X + Gen Y are into side parts.

America is split... down the center and down the sides!

Which way do u part your hair?

Center
194(21.4%)
Side
475(52.4%)
Both
189(20.9%)
Neither
48(5.3%)

Ready for some hair wank? what's your hair look like now, ONTD?

I used to obsessively middle part my hair as a teen but the only time I part my hair (middle) is when it’s straight. Usually, I have no part.
As someone who was a year younger than Claire Danes when My So-Called Life came out, I loved the middle part, I lived the middle part. Gen-Z can't tell me nothing about the middle part.

Now I just do whatever looks cute that day. Usually, a high bun or a ponytail cause my locs are down to my ass now.
Why is gen z always hating
Inflation rates when they reach adulthood
They are the reductive generation, fashionably speaking.
I have a widows peak, if I try to get on board with a middle part I'll look like fucking Wednesday Addams
That’s a good look
I also have a widows peak. And it did add to my costume when dressed up as Wednesday Adams.
my hair is really thick + healthy and I switch my parting a lot bc I'm afraid of hair loss.

if I'm doing a severe bun I do a middle part, if I wanna be sexy its down and side parted for volume
generational wars are stupid af and ngl ontd shows its age whenever this topic comes up

that said middle parts are symmetrical face privilege and some of us rely on the side part to assist with our forehead situations!!!
Ok Rihanna
yeah i said it

My face isn't symmetrical but with my widow's peak, anything besides a middle part looks funny on me and my forehead lol.
I mostly do middle cuz I only brush my hair right before/after I wash it and I'm lucky enough to have a symmetrical face so shrug.
my hair is usually up but when i wear it down, it's side part all the way. i've been contemplating buzzing it off even though my undercut is pretty grown out since i haven't had a haircut in over a year.
Y'all gave them all that credit for trolling that tr*mp rally last year and the praise went to their heads. Gen Zzzzz don't know anything!

a middle part shows too many grey hairs on me ok
lmaoooooooooo I have like 3 or 4 grey hairs, and they're all more towards the side of my head, so I like that a center part hides them better. :D
lmao same. my grey hairs are coming in strong one the left side of my head, so middle part is where it's at
Omg my beard is starting to go grey, I thought it was lint from my mask! I refuse to dye it though, hopefully I can pull off the salt and pepper look
Why does it seem like Gen Z-ers perpetually want to pick fights with their immediate predecessors? I don't see a whole lot of millenials as a whole crap on Gen X.
Because the opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference :)

I was just thinking of that...I don't think we picked on Gen X at all. We thought they were cool lol! I have noticed that Gen Z gets a bit of praise and it goes to their heads.

That said I'm always surprised how ignored Gen X is! Boomers, millennials, and gen z-ers are always in the conversation but Gen X is MIA!

I'm guessing they lived up to the slack generation title.....they slacked off the GRID!!😭😱

We (me and my fellow millenials) should've picked on Gen X looking back - their apathy/"I'm too cool for this shit" has really fucked over a lot of people.

(That being said, I've spent my adult years trying to get the grunge wardrobe I was denied as a child.)

Gen X is very small (to the extent these generation things even exist at all). Maybe that's it.

I always thought gen Xers like my sister were so cool. Never thought to make fun of them except for them all being wine moms now.

I don't really part it, just push my bangs to the side.
Speaking of my hair, I have not cut it since November 2019. Around this time last year I was thinking about making a hair appointment. And well. That never happened. Because pandemic.

I kinda wanna do some kind of dramatic cut when I finally go to a salon again, but idk what exactly.
I had a haircut in november 2019 as well. but I went and got a cut november last year and went short to donate it. I might have to let it grow and donate it again with the way things are.
Maybe experiment with hair color? nothing permanent? Idk, if you don't get on camera often now is honestly the time to be doing some crazy things with your look.
I’ve always had a center part. I have pin straight blonde hair and it’s just how it’s always been. I’ve embraced it. Glad to see that gen z will accept me.
I've always just use its natural part.. I have curly hair and I should probably try to train it to part closer to the side, but I really don't have the time or energy for that.
95% of the time, i go with a side part (left).
i wear it in the center some times, but i guess i've been doing the side part too long cause it never lays flat with a middle part? like it's puffy/teased along the part line.
