Gen Z vs. Millenials: Hair Edition

A debate is raging on TikTok that is even more divisive than politics. In fact, it's about how you divide the hair on your head.

Gen Z'ers believe that center parts are where it's at. They think that your side part makes you look like an Old! Meanwhile, Millenials + Gen X + Gen Y are into side parts.

America is split... down the center and down the sides!

Which way do u part your hair?

Center
192(21.5%)
Side
468(52.5%)
Both
183(20.5%)
Neither
48(5.4%)

Ready for some hair wank? what's your hair look like now, ONTD?

I definitely like the trendy middle part, especially on long hair... but what about those of us with big ole foreheads?!? And what about when my very curly hair is big and frizzy? The center part doesn’t work ALL the time.
Gen Z is really into ugly-hot which I respect them for. So big foreheads don't stop them.
"Meanwhile, Millenials + Gen X + Gen Y are into side parts."

Gen Y are the millennials.

I do both but I do a side part more. The down the middle part was pretty big the 90s and the previous gens. I noticed it a lot in the 60s and 70s eras.
whatev.
My hair is curly and thick..if i part it down the middle I end up looking like weird al.
Same lol, it basically turns into a triangle.
All young people are supposed to look ridiculous. We all go through it.
I was a teen in the early 2000s. Some of the lewks from that era... oh boy.
when I remember my pants and jeans skirts combos.. wow, what was I thinking hahahah
I did a babydoll dress over distressed jeans and Chucks look in high school and I looked STUNNING because I knew wtf I was doing. If one is to do the "dress over pants" look, that's the way to go.

Yup. I'm lucky I can look back on my photos from high school (early 2000s) and breathe easy that I didn't fall into a lot of the trends of that era.
I will laugh if they bring back butterfly clips.

People have been making fun of my center part since the zig zag part was in style so I never thought they were supposed to be cool. But it's the only way my hair will part, everyone says you have to "train" it but I don't have the time or fucks to fight it.
Same lol I never trained mine to do a side part
If I'm trying to be "fancy" I'll do a side part and a hair clip but it requires so much hairspray to not all slip out the clip and revert to the middle part lol

I was born in the mid 90's so I think I'm right on the edge of millennial and Generation Z, but I've always had a centre part.
My favorite hairstyle is a side parted low ponytail but my five head and hairline won’t allow it :(

I don’t care where my hair parts when it’s down but center part+updos are very aging and yuppie imo
I have naturally curly hair, like 3A/3B curly hair, so when I leave it natural I part it to the side. If I straighten it, I typically part in middle but it depends on my mood.

The whole side part/middle part and skinny jeans/whatever jeans thing is funny to me because as someone in their 30s, all the things teens say are cool now are what was cool when I was younger...so it's like ummm, I've already been there once before.

Exactly. I tossed my scrunchies in 2008 because I was tired of my friends ragging on me and I’m like, the AUDACITY of these children today
lol I bought some velvet scrunchies last year, I'm like why did I stop wearing these?
I have 3A/3B hair too but I do the opposite, when it's curly I'll leave it in the middle but when I straighten I put to the side.

Although there was a time where I would not leave in the middle if it was curly.....it wasn't working back then lol.
Same, I have 4c hair so it goes off to the side by itself. If I’m wearing wigs tho center parts are where it’s at.

Agreed. Like I’ve lived through carpenter jeans and tie-up low rise jeans and wet and ripped up super wide leg jeans and I’m not doing that again
I’m a 35-year-old millennial who never trained my hair to have a side part so I am cool because I’m fucking lazy lollll everything comes back around y’all, laziness pays off
The easiest way to avoid wank is to have a pixie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My hair is....well the mullet is still coming in nicely
title or description

Even the little neighbor boy, who was showing off his new haircut, commented that yeah you should get it cut it's getting long. Thanks kid.
Right? When I had short hair I was excluded from hair conversations, which suited me fine. But I’d always have a chuckle when people with basic bronde balayaged straight hair would be like, “oh you’re so lucky it must take you no time at all to do your hair.” Followed by a traumatic tale about their tri-annual trim and blow out by Stacee the trainee hairstylist.

Like girl, you think it just dries like this? Come to me when you have to shell out hundreds of dollars to a pro-stylist every six weeks to upkeep your cut and colour.
lmao the one thing I absolutely miss about long hair is the ability to just throw it back in a ponytail when I'm feeling too lazy to wash or anything with it.

Short hair is a gift and a curse. The amount of gel and having to use my hair dryer which I hate is too much
I have a side part. I'd love to have a center part but collocks...
When I run my hand through my hair it falls in a natural center part but I make an effort to do a bit of a side part since it looks better on my face. But my belief with hair is do what makes you happy.
lol so fucking dumb. the kardashians popularized the middle part like ten years ago when young millennials were still in high school this isn't a generational thing. they keep trying to make manufactured beef between two gens who probably have the most in common
was it even the kardashians? damn i totally forgot that. i was fairly 'trendy' and i defo remember parting my hair to the middle after years of side part in 2009-2010.
I have long, curly hair and a widow's peak so a middle part is literally not an option even if I wanted to look like a gen Zer.
hahahahah really? do people really have such strong opinions on how you part your hair?

I'm a millenial (from 86, it needs to be said lbr) and I do center part, it fits me.
Giiirl are you watching the MTV BTS stream on their youtube? (I hope it's not geolocked for you!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZAuL35WvHg&feature=youtu.be

It's just 24 hours BTS's music videos and interviews and stuff in the lead up to tomorrow's Unplugged performance. But it's fun to have on in the background.
weirdly enough it isnt! I was sure it would be ahahaha bless MTV. I'm watching it, cute seeing the interview from 2020 with them talking about touring.

yeah, it is good to just let it play. I was just making a post to be ready for tomorrow. there are things ahahahah

my god the chat box on that is moving so quickly it's making my eyes hurt
are you or ellaellaeheheh including the Run episode to the post/making a separate post for it? my bias (V) and bias wrecker (Jin) were the cutest things in today's episode. I was legit LIVING for that final match. I cannot wait for the MTV unplugged performance. I have been needing some new content/performances in my life.
Gen Z is obsessed.mp3 with us.

but in general seems more like an internet thing.
