Emma Watson allegedly engaged, also apparently retired from acting



Emma Watson has reportedly gone 'dormant' career-wise, according to her agent/publicist. This is Hollywood lingo for 'she's given up acting', according to the DM.

Checking her IMDb, this may not be a surprise since she filmed one movie in the past five years (only because Emma Stone dropped out of 'Little Women' at the last minute and Sony/Amazing Amy was desperate to work with her).

-- Is allegedly stepping down to spend time with rumored fiance Leo Robinton.
-- Apparently lives in seclusion in Ibiza where she's living the rich tax-evading life of drinking smoothies and reading the papers, as per the final journalists at the Mail. I guess I would too with a net worth of $80M.
-- Her PR people state she 'is not taking on new commitments'.

That's probably for the best. I liked her well enough as Hermione, but girl cannot act well.

The last I remember hearing about her was that she skipped out on all the PR for Little Women, and people thought she was pregnant? Or something?

lol aww people are so mean to her on here! I'll say she's not the greatest of actress but I always kind rooted for her.

I thought her best role was in the Bling Ring.

Oh well at least she's got enough money to do this! I'd love to go to Ibiza! :)

Iirc she was the only one from the HP main trio that didn’t immediately sign on when their contracts were extended from two films to seven. I think she said something like Dan and Rupert were so sure that they wanted to do it and she just wasn’t. She’s the only one of them that even attempted post secondary education so I think she did the best she could with her acting career but it was probably always in the back of her mind that it was not a long-term desire for her.

If this is true, it’s honestly not a great loss to the film world.

But I don’t get why other mega wealthy celebs don’t retire. If I had that kind of money, why would I bother working - I’d retire and enjoy life.

Shes not a good actress but in a sea of bad actors who get paid, I didn't mind seeing her around. For nostalgic reasons?

I have some friends who went to school with her in Brown and while they were never close, apparently she's pretty pleasant. She saw one of my friends, an Asian girl, walking alone and leaving the same party, when she pulled over and offered her a ride cause it wasn't safe.

Bland as her acting and her whole brand is, honestly I miss her kind of harmlessness. She's also never been overexposed. So congrats to her.

I mean, I'm not a fan of the tax fraud or her acting but from what I know she was really low key and polite to people in Brown so I have this soft spot for her. Apparently she really wanted to have that normal college experience but also struggled to keep it low key.
