Samantha Mumba Opens Up About Hiatus And Comeback
Samantha Mumba is working on a comeback! It's been 20 years since the singer topped the charts in 2000 with a lineup of hit singles from her debut album, Gotta Tell You, and the “Always Come Back To Your Love” singer is finally opening up about why she took a hiatus from the music industry.
The singer took a break from making music after her follow up album seemed got shelved by her record label.
So what the heck happened to Samatha Mumba? It looks like she was in a similar situation to JoJo where she couldn't release new music but her record label would let her go from her contract either.
Samantha: There’s no huge drama or horrendous thing. I very much so got caught in a merge when all of the labels kind of condensed into two and three large labels. My entire team was wiped out so I had all new people around me and they were kind of walking on eggshells as well. Nobody’s jobs were secure and it was just kind of a weird time. So, I was shelved. The label wouldn’t release music but I was still bound to my contract. So, I was in that for a couple of years before I was actually released.
She goes on to talk about her new music and touring. I'm actually really excited about her new music. The early 2000's had the best pop music and I wish more artists from that era would make comebacks.
