Joaquin Phoenix Might Star in Ari Aster's "Beau Is Afraid"

Joaquin Phoenix's next project appears to be Ari Aster's follow up to Midsommar, the surrealist horror Beau is Afraid.

The synopsis: An anxious man learns of the death of his mother under mysterious circumstances and upon traveling home makes an alarming discovery about his past. During his journey, he runs into various crazy supernatural threats.

The film appears to be based on Aster's short film "Beau." The script has also already leaked.

This could be as great as Hereditary or as terrible as Midsommar. I hope it's the former case.
I just don't like watching him, cast someone else. A woman.
I couldn’t get through Hereditary because I was bored half-way in, and even though I got all the way through Midsommar I wouldn’t call it good.

I’ll see this one, though, because I feel like this guy has real talent for horror and his other movies just missed the mark for me and maybe this one will land.
Well....
Ari Aster's movies are always ridiculous and lame to me. The acting is good, but I can't get on board with those who consider them revolutionary.
I’m intrigued
I watched his debut (?) short that everyone was praising like it was so amazing but it was a no thanks from me. The topic was gross.
I'm looking forward to this.
i hope it's better than midsommar, i'll give him another chance
I hope not, I want to continue to enjoy Ari's films.
Honestly...I'm not a fan of AA's take on horror movies because they always leave me feeling despondent and disturbed as opposed to "scared"/filled with suspense lol. Not my cup of tea.

But Hereditary did have some cool moments, and Toni Collette is amazing.
Does anyone have a copy of the script? I really want to read it but can’t find it anywhere (it seems to have been wiped from reddit).
can't wait!
so here for this
