Ariana Grande's 69 Split Sparks Tik Tok Trend

Ariana Grande has a lot of hidden talents (voice impersonation, changing races, etc), and doing the splits is evidently one of them.

She sings the lyrics with a candid expression - as though her words are of every day talk, while performing the allegedly 'now iconic' move:

Got the neighbors yelling "Earthquake" (Earthquake)
4.5 when I make the bed shake (Bed shake)
Put it down heavy even though it's lightweight (It's lightweight, yuh yuh)

What are your hidden talents?

Lol same
I also probably don’t follow any dancers either
i thought that beat was actually from the song and thought the impossible happened where i was actually going to like one of her songs.

crisis averted.
lmao stop!! I felt the same way!! Can't believe MTV UK's generic tweet beat is better than Ariana's entire discography.

I am so tired of the musicians I follow on Instagram re-gramming (is that the term) clips of random teenage girls dancing to their songs on ticktack. It’s like spam

Like ... I follow you to look at your pretty face on Instagram and not to watch teenage girls dancing
I actually unfollowed so many musicians when they began heavy doing that shit. I hated being spammed with posts of so-and-so doing the xxx-challenge. If I cared, I'd go follow those people.
That's why I was annoyed when Instagram first introduced "Reels." Luckily, it only started showing me topics I already view, but at first I was scared I'd only see tweens dancing forever.

she's come such a long way
ugh i wish i could do the splits. i'm stretching more after i workout but its gonna take a long time. Has anyone on here learned to do the splits in their 20s? 😅
i feel like if you were doing a solid thirty minutes of hip openers and leg stretching every day, it probably wouldn't take that long.

this girl promises results in one day so ymmv
i'm sure if you did this you would improve, but everyone's bodies are different some people just don't have that kind of flexibility 🤷‍♀️ i have very flexible hip flexors but extremely tight hamstrings and even when i was doing yoga 6 days a week i still couldnt get less than 5in from the floor. the splits are extremely difficult and aren't accessible for everyone and you could seriously injure yourself trying, so don't push yourself!

Yes, but I am more flexible than not.
On Instagram there's a woman called Dr. Sara Soloman. She taught herself how to do the splits at 40. But she's really into fitness, so it was all about fixing her hip imbalances and pelvic floor and such.

Here's a recent 'gram about it: https://www.instagram.com/p/CGV4p89H-Bq/

my friend got it during the quarantine! And she couldn’t touch her toes before. She stretches for an hour three times a week

When I did dance, I stretched once in the morning and once at night to get my splits. Definitely make sure you're stretching multiple areas since it requires flexibility in many different areas. And the mere act of stretching has benefits so even if you can't do the splits, know that the process is beneficial!
The good thing about flexibility is that out of all the fitness parameters (strength, endurance, etc.), it’s the one that will provide the fastest results. But it also means if you don’t keep it up, you’ll lose it just as fast.
i'm in my 30's and managed it within 2 months-ish with daily 20 minute stretches. i didn't find it difficult, just tedious.

this feels like it was very definitely relentlessly focus-grouped to try and "be a thing on tiktok" t b h
I'm honestly not convinced she even did it. The camera work in that shot (from a distance and then cropped out) doesn't lead me to believe that's actually Ariana.
It's not a Grande song without a little 'yuh yuh'
Don't have any lol.

I always wanted to learn how to juggle or some other shit that I could share in meetings where we're asked to share a fun fact about ourselves.

I learned how to juggle in elementary school, it's super easy. We had a after school program that focused on tumbling, juggling, jump rope, and unicycling.
Were they trying to prepare kids for the circus

Jk jk, that seems really fun. I wish my elementary school did that
I can say the alphabet backwards in less than 5 seconds.
I used to be able to list all the countries in Africa from memory. I could probably get most of them if I tried it again now but it's been several years since I last did it & my memory isn't what it used to be, so I'm sure I'd forget a couple & have to look them up.
getting pretty good at fighting mental illnesses

juggling is pretty easy! I taught myself in high school and I'm way out of practice but it was definitely fun :D
I can touch my nose with my tongue lol
i can recite the presidents in almost perfect order. i always get tripped up by 11-13 and i can never remember if chester a arthur is before or after rutherford b hayes
I am great at feeling bad about people being nice to me.
It's just a split... I'm getting too old for this.
it's a split where she's lightly bouncing her ass and grinding her pussy to the floor i don't get what's special or skillful about this beyond the split part which like... she's tiny and has been telling us for years in every single song that she's the best at sex so like i imagine she's probably serious about her stretching.
I was gonna say. Short people are better at tumbling and all this ish exactly because they got less mass to split and bend.
i hope tiktok dances making songs go viral will inspire more western music acts to make actual attempts at choreo in their mvs tbh
I didnt even think of this good side effect!!!
What are your hidden talents?

My fingers are double jointed, I can kick really high and I can also squat all the way down with my legs together.

Huh, I didn’t know squatting all the way down was hard enough to be considered a talent lol
Lol I didn't know either, until my sister in law told me about this challenge she saw on YouTube where you're supposed to squat all the way down while keeping your feet flat. I tried it and was able to do it. I don't have many hidden talents, so I figured I'd include it lol.
