David Fincher signs a 4-year deal with Netflix + has things to say about Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker

- He told French magazine, Première, that he signed an exclusivity deal with Netflix for the next four years. Doesn't necessarily mean directing, could be producing, for example

- Once again says there will be no 3rd season of Mindhunter

'Mank' arrives on Netflix on December 4

- Says Hollywood has turned its back on innovative filmmaking while Netflix is pushing the medium forward. Studios don't want anything that will not give them 1 billion in return, leaving middle-budget movies behind

- Joker wouldn't have been made if not for The Dark Knight's success

- Mentions the comparison of Joaquin's Joker with Travis Bickle and Rupert Pupkin (Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy), and how the movie's idea is to "trap him in a betrayal of the mentally ill, and trot it out for a billion dollars"
