This election has got me thinking about another cat so I decided to resurrect a section I did on a lock-down pub quiz:
Rumored to have inherited owner Karl Lagerfeld's estate in 2019, the Birman cat now lives with her nanny Françoise Caçote in Paris. The cat was a gift to Lagerfeld from his friend Baptiste Giabiconi as a birthday present in 2011. Her entourage reportedly consisted of a bodyguard, a chef, and a doctor. The cat now has her own instagram with over 73,000 followers.
Clockwise: Koji, Asia Kinney, Gustavo, and IDK*
I am old enough to remember when Gaga got her first French Bulldog in 2014, Asia (who had her own Coach campaign). Gaga adopted Koji (April 2015) and Gusatvo (2016) soon thereafter. Asia seems to be the most popular, and has an instagram following of 223k
*Not sure this is Gaga's dog as they don't appear anywhere else! Their name may be Bocce?
Nicole Richie adopted the bearded dragon (which can live 10-15 years) in 2018. Just last month, with fellow bearded dragon owner Drew Barrymore, Richie found out that that Speedy is a girl and declared "What? Oh my god. Speedy. You know what I love my children no matter who they are, no matter what sex they are. So, I’m fine with it.”
The cockatoo was adopted by rockstar Iggy Pop in 2016. The bird was also named the official “founding patron” of the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital as they work to build a mobile wildlife hospital. The bird's instagram account (with 90.6k followers) posted in support of the victims (animals and humans) of the Australian bush fires and the West Coast forest fires. In September 2020, the bird appeared in a Gucci ad with Iggy as well as Asap Rocky and Tyler the Creator.
Sheba & Moby
"""Eccentric""" actor Nicolas Cage owned two albino King cobras named Sheba and Moby. The actor was forced to rehome the cobras at a zoo after neighbors complained. In a 2008 interview, Cage noted their lethality "I had to keep the antidote to their poison as well because if one of those guys bit you then you had 15 minutes before the curtains closed. I loved them."
In a 2019 interview with the New York Times, Cage credited the cobras as inspiration for his acting in the 2011 film "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" which has a 4.3 on IMDB, and a 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, though this is far from his worst film.
Honky & Tonky
Reese Witherspoon adopted two minature donkeys in 2010, naming them Honky and Tonky. At the time, she also said she owned two pigs, three goats, twenty chickens, and three dogs. Witherspoon's pets were reportedly a nuisance to her neighbors in June 2011 who sent a letter complaining of the donkey's noise levels. She said she had originally envisioned different names for the donkeys: “I wanted the donkeys to be called Honky Tonk and Badonkadonk but the kids weren’t so into it. They didn’t know what ‘badonkadonk’ meant. So apparently I am doing some good parenting."
This post was just an excuse to have a cute pets post. Show me your fluffs so I can have a moment not filled with dread! Mods, hopefully the sources are okay now!
