Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Lee Plan To Leave The US If Trump Is Re-elected

Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Lee are making recent headlines after declaring that they plan to flee the US should Donald Trump be re-elected. “If Trump is reelected - which he will not be; I’m predicting right now he’s gonna lose - if by some happenstance he should be, I’ll see you on the next plane,” Springsteen told Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

Meanwhile Lee told The Big Issue, “Dude, I swear to God if that happens then I’m coming over to visit the UK. I’m out of here. I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to go Greece and get a house on one of the islands,” Lee, who was born in Athens and raised in California, said.

“I feel like people in Europe and the rest of the world look at America and think: ‘What the fuck are you guys doing over there?’” Lee continued. “Stop voting for celebrities and get someone real to run the country.”

In 2016 several celebrities pledged to flee the country if Trump won the presidential election. The Hollywood Reporter recently did a where are they now? list.

US ONTD, are you leaving the country if Trump is re-elected?

Is this something only privileged people say?

Can I come too?
wish i could just leave but im a normal person so i have to wait until its literally life or death and flee with nothing :)
my 80-yobmom made me promise if i ever emigrated to canada... i'd bring her too. i don't see it happening though. 5 years ago i might have been able to apply as a "skilled worker" but i let all those skills lapse & have never been happier tbh 🤷‍♀️
No. If I have to suffer through life, I’d rather suffer in America. There is no utopia or some better land. Suffering is everywhere. If he wins, we’ll have to protest, vote and be as loud as possible. He don’t own shit around here
I want to but I want to be in NY AND THAT MOTHER FUCKER WILL NOT RUN ME OUUUUUT!
I was living abroad when he was elected, and a part of me thinks I shouldn't have come back.

I don't understand why celebs don't follow through with this threat... If I had their resources I absolutely would.
I don’t blame them. I love this country but this country does not love me. If I could, I’d leave because I don’t feel safe anymore with a president who refuses to denounce neo-nazis, white nationalists, proud boys and the like. Sometimes when I walk alone I fear violence or being harassed by police. Being treated as a 2nd class human with all this racism, stresses me out and damages my health. I’m exhausted. I’ll vote soon and tune out the world again because it’s the only way I can deal.
i'm stuck in this hellhole
I'd love to be able to leave Australia and the creeping authoritarian fascism we've got going on here - seriously we're just like a kid brother trying to copy everything the the older sibling we idolise does (the US), not to mention the utter disdain they have for the unemployed and the disabled. We have 'free healthcare' in the sense that a lot of mobile games are 'free to play' - you still have to pay to win in any meaningful way or it's just a relentless grind. In the case of accident/emergency sure we're great, but if you're poor with a chronic health condition lol good luck. One of the biggest hospitals in Melbourne recently dumped 12,000 patients off the waiting list to see a specialist, including my bf who possibly needs surgery on his neck for a herniated disc, and me needing to see a rheumatologist about ehlers-danlos syndrome.
Not to mention we've been identified as one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change yet our major parties are too beholden to fossil fuel donors to make any real changes. The ruling party's plan for economic recovery includes opening new coal mines and a massive expansion of natural gas extraction. Fuck Australia. I didn't even get to the racism, it goes without saying at this point. This country outwardly despises anyone who's not white and middle class.
I’m stuck in NYC but no complaints. I’ve thought about moving but my life is here.

God forbid that Trump will be re-elected. Ugh.
I don't know about privileged people but it's definitely something that those of us with dual citizenship say.

Been making plans to move north if the election doesn't go as I'd hoped.
Come to Portugal, Bruce
I mean, I finally got off my lazy butt and tried to renounce my citizenship this year, but can't because of covid.

I have dual citizenship, and the US one has been useless for years since I have zero connection to the country besides me being born in a hospital there. And I don't want keep burning money to have a professional file my taxes either (it's a nightmare to do from overseas with no US contact info), but looks like I'll have to.
I'm the opposite. I moved to S.Korea in 2013 and have been here ever since. I got married and my husband and I planned to move back to my home state in like 2022 so I could go to nursing school. But everything got messed up with Trump, so I said fuck it and got dual citizenship. So now I gotta figure out wtf I wanna do in SK for the rest of my life lol
I would totally leave this hellhole if it was easy to find a job and get citizenship elsewhere. But it's just not feasible.
