Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Lee Plan To Leave The US If Trump Is Re-elected

Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Lee are making recent headlines after declaring that they plan to flee the US should Donald Trump be re-elected. “If Trump is reelected - which he will not be; I’m predicting right now he’s gonna lose - if by some happenstance he should be, I’ll see you on the next plane,” Springsteen told Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

Meanwhile Lee told The Big Issue, “Dude, I swear to God if that happens then I’m coming over to visit the UK. I’m out of here. I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to go Greece and get a house on one of the islands,” Lee, who was born in Athens and raised in California, said.

“I feel like people in Europe and the rest of the world look at America and think: ‘What the fuck are you guys doing over there?’” Lee continued. “Stop voting for celebrities and get someone real to run the country.”

In 2016 several celebrities pledged to flee the country if Trump won the presidential election. The Hollywood Reporter recently did a where are they now? list.

US ONTD, are you leaving the country if Trump is re-elected?

Is this something only privileged people say?

Easy to say when you're well off. I voted today and I was lucky that the voting center near me had drive thru voting! We only had to wait for one car!
damn. you can't even get through my local dunkin that quickly. my absentee ballot is headed my way in the mail 💞
Shit like this is so annoying. Not only does it do nothing to help those who will continue to suffer here, but the majority of Americans don’t have the economic privilege to just pick up everything and leave. I get that we live in a highly individualized society, but these kinds of petty statements are selfish and just rub wealth inequity in the face of those who stand to lose the most.
Seriously. Truly parasites off to find a new host.
Yup. Someone on ONTD tried to say that to Americans I think in the RBG death post. The user was like "I'm telling you now Americans, you need to get out." I was like bitch where do you want us to go??? It's not like most people can just pick up and flee!
it also misses the point of the far-reaching impacts of a trump presidency, both culturally (let's remember europe/australia/etc. basically consume whatever the us wants them to so the cultural rise of the US far-right directly impacts all of those places who also have their own domestic far-right cultures) and in tangencial terms.

i totally get normal ontders not focusing on this because they're worried about their healthcare and their rights to abortion and those immediate concerns but rich as fuck celebrities? get the fuck out of here with this bullshit
far-reaching impacts of a trump presidency

yep. i'm in canada, but i live in alberta and our right wing govt that has held power for like 40 something years, save for when the NDP was elected, are salivating at everything the trump admin does.

Before the election: Cyrus was a Bernie Sanders supporter before backing Hillary Clinton once she became the Democratic Party nominee. In an Instagram post, The Voice judge proclaimed, "My heart is broken into a 100000 pieces... I am moving if [Donald Trump] is my president! I don't say things I don't mean!"

After the election: Instead of fleeing the country, Cyrus said she accepts Trump as the president and called for him to have an open mind in an emotional video she tweeted after the results were announced.

I already live abroad but a 2nd term is basically the final nail in the coffin for me. A 2nd Trump administration will effectively undo literally everything we've accomplished as a society for the last 100 years and "democracy" is over.

I miss my family terribly and would love to be home again but I can't live there in its current state and things will only get worse if he's in there another four years. If he's there another four, it won't just be another four.

If I was rich I'd leave in a heartbeat. It must be nice to have that freedom. I'd also be concerned about what type of quarantine my pet would have to go through.
Why Australia when they can join Lena Dunham in Canada who of course famously moved there right after trumps inauguration
These kinds of statements make my blood boil. Imo rich or poor you have a responsibility to try and make things better. Try showing up to a primary vote instead of fleeing a whole ass country.
I wish I could leave the country but I'm not stupid enough to think I can. I am looking into leaving Florida however.
I can’t wait to leave Florida.
I’m pretty jealous of 3 friends who married Europeans and left. One was more of a high school friend so I really just see her on FB but it looks like in the past few months she moved to Germany. The other moved to France years ago and one is currently in Ireland the past year or so. But those are my white friends so the struggle is different than mine. 🙃
I mean, I'd happily leave if I could get sponsored for a work permit or find a job where I can work remotely and make a US salary and live somewhere cheaply.
Remember when Alec Baldwin said this and now he’s living in his mansion in the hamptons..also making a living off of impersonating trump.
My husband and I have talked about the possibility. I have four young daughters, one with quirks due to drug exposure in utero from her bio mom, and I'm honestly so worried for all of them but that kiddo especially. My husband works for a well known tech company with offices around the world, so it's feasible, but I'm an only child and worry about leaving my mom (who hates airplanes).

We've been floating the idea for the last 5 years or so.
I mean, I'd have been gone after 2016 if it were possible. 🤷 It might be something that's only realistic for privileged people, but I'm sure plenty have had the thought/desire. And there's nothing wrong with that.
