Coke is discontinuing Tab, its first ever diet drink after 57 years

- On Friday Coke announced it will be retiring its first ever diet drink after 57 years

- The drink was first marketed toward women when it hit the market in 1963

- Due to "the exercise and dieting craze hit the mainstream" it was a big hit in the 70s and 80s "and it maintained a cult following for decades. An energy drink under the Tab logo was launched in 2006."

- Kerri Kopp, the group director for Diet Coke at Coca-Cola North America, said in a news release: “We’re forever grateful to Tab for paving the way for the diets and lights category, and to the legion of Tab lovers who have embraced the brand for nearly six decades. If not for Tab, we wouldn’t have Diet Coke or Coke Zero Sugar. Tab did its job.”

- Other drinks Coke is discontinuing: Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, Odwalla (announced in July), Zico Coconut Water, Kuat (Brazil) and Vegitabeta (Japan).

Did anyone in your family drink Tab? I was told it was my grandmother's favorite drink in the 80s

I read it about it once and then actually bought it. It tasted like Diet Coke without the taste of Cola, utterly artificial. It was awful.
Most of these make sense, but even with it being totally disgusting, I feel like Zico was pretty popular.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one here (England). I once tried a root beer and my God that was awful. It tasted medicinal.
Root beer is so good, it's wild to me that it's like an American ~acquired taste~ because that shit is bomb
I couldn’t drink it. I felt like I was at the dentist.

I think American root beer is different from root beer from England.
Sorry for this soda.
I literally have never had the cola tab in my life but I remember in the mid-2000s when they rebranded it as a girly energy drink?? am i crazy??
none of these exist in mexico lol
Not Zico!
I definitely thought they stopped making this in the 90s...
OMG literally “who?!”

I’ve never heard of this drink. I’ve lived in NYC for the past 12 years and in Canada before that.

Where was this sold?

Who? He could be walking down the street, I wouldn’t know a thing. Sorry to this can.
I don't drink coke anymore but I have never seen or heard of this before
I’ve never had Tab but this is making me sad for some reason???
How I feel about the fall of communism in Poland.
i've never had it either, but i want to try to find it.
when i was living in east asia i bought “coca cola plus” by accident instead of diet coke and i looked it up and it’s coke plus LAXATIVES
Coke poocola
What a combination!!! 💀💀💀
A press release from the brand issued last year, at the time the beverage was introduced, says, “Drinking one Coca-Cola Plus per day with food will help suppress fat absorption and help moderate the levels of triglycerides in the blood after eating.“ But, the packaging warns, don’t drink too much, because that can lead to "loose bowels,” WSJ reports.

Tab is disgusting. I thought it was discontinued years ago tbh.

My mother drank this loads in the 90s when I was growing up.

Ok, I'm shook by the number of people who haven't heard of it. Either everyone is in Europe or under the age of like, 23. Because I grew up in Southern Africa so it wasn't just a US-thing
I'm shocked too that many haven't heard about or seen Tab. I remember watching Roseanne and seeing the can multiple times on the show.
