Schitt's Creek's sweeped at the Emmys for the comedy categories, so usual winner and favorite (at least for the past seasons) The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was shut out of the major categories handed out during the ceremony.
When the past year the show was one of the most successfuls of the night, this year the show only got 4 Emmy wins that were presented during the Creative Arts Ceremony.
The Good Place had its last season and this was the last opportunity to get a win but the show was completely shut out. Similarly, HBO's Insecure (with 8 nominations, including best comedy, best lead actress in a comedy and best supporting actress in a comedy) went empty handed, the same happened with FX's "What we do in the Shadows" (8 nominations) , HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm (4 noms) and Netflix's Dead to Me (4 noms) and The Kominsky Method (3 noms)
On the Drama side, HBO's Succession was the clear winner of the night, winning for best drama series, writing for a drama, best drama actor and best directing for a drama. Julia Garner's win as best supporting actress was the only trophy Ozark got, despite Laura Linney's performance being acclaimed and several critics and media predicting her as the winner. Other dramas that lost big last night were: The Crown, Better Caul Saul, The Handmaid's Tale, Stranger Things and Killing Eve.
