Does this "certified young person" know that most millennials are in their thirties? Why do we have to be blamed for everything? If anything, it's the boomers and the Gen-Z that are refusing to wear masks,

Yeah, this is funny but it feels like it’s directed at the wrong gen lol
Not sure how it's in the US, but where I live the not wearing masks thing is nothing generational.

From what I've been seeing it's mostly boomers and Gen-x acting as though this shit is such a hardship. They're the ones I keep seeing act a fool in those social media videos. Millennials and Gen-z seem to be handling the situation much better.

yeah it's almost exclusively middle-aged people who are being a complete pain in ass about this where I live. there are a few annoying teenagers but it's the mid-forties to mid-60s who keep throwing tantrums and refusing to wear masks.

Gen Z is ruining everything in my city.
Yeah I don’t know why millennials is still a catch-all term for any young person it seems like, the college kids out partying have nothing to do with us!
omg its funny tf us millenials really are snowflakes lol
Ummm it’s just the same for millennials. I see a lot of dude bros / Karens / Trumpie types in their late 20s - 30s without masks here in NYC. Thing is, I wonder if PSA videos like this one would still be taken seriously by some millennials because older people are generally more difficult to educate / more stubborn.

I thought Gen-Xrs are the new "boomers"

Yeah in my area it’s boomers and gen z’s who think they don’t need one lol
Select people from all generations refuse to wear masks here. So millenials are partly to blame (I'm a millennial so I know what my peers are up to lol)
i mean i’m 31 and i know a hell of a lot of millennials not wearing masks when they should be. it should be directed at all of us
there are younger millennials and they're still the ones working and going to eat without masks.
This ‘certified millennial’ was in LOVE with Paul I’m Clueless. I saw it like 10 times when it came out at the cinemas.

Of course I’m on the older side and have been called a Xenbial.
lol yea, the message is great but why direct it at millenials? Its the Karen and Kevin Trump supporting idiots that are the ones showing their assholes about wearing a mask. and the ironic thing is they are the ones who will go on and on about how THEY had it sooooo hard growing up yet they want to act like babies about something like wearing a piece of fabric across their face.
There are no active cases where I live so no, I am not currently masking up. I do have some in case I have to go get tested or something, though. And I only leave the house for work and stay as far away from anyone as possible.
I mean, there are no active cases where I live either for like a month and I still wear one. It is also still mandatory in my city. I'm fine to keep doing it since who knows when someone will come in and start the spread again
We’ve had 466 cases total in 427,000 tests, and most of those were picked up in overseas travellers who were immediately put into quarantine.. It’s very low risk here and masks haven’t even been recommended for us. We had pretty much a full shutdown of the state early on for a couple of months and got it under control and we still have state and international border restrictions in place and mandatory two week hotel quarantine for anyone coming in from most places.

This. All it takes is once instance. I've mentioned it a few times but a family member recently had a wedding and now several people are infected due to her precious princess church wedding. yay God I guess.
You’re aus right? I think esp with how good we’ve been doing with testing capacity and numbers, masks don’t seem so urgently needed (I mean except vic rn lol). I’m in Sydney so I mask up every time I’m on public transport and busy indoor areas but no one has been wearing them in class time at uni 🥴 My classes are pretty smoll and honestly I’m lowkey glad nobody is wearing a mask. We’ve been talking about complicated abstract theory (assemblages and agencment 😭) lately and like....I’m confused enough without having to get someone on the other side of the room to repeat something louder thru their mask

Yeah I’m in Perth and it’s just not needed here.

Of course my family in NSW have gone ott and are like ‘we hope we get to see you again before we die’ Fuck off keep the borders shut.

I'm in Toronto and the case numbers are going back up. Despite that we opened schools yesterday. It's going to be a god damn mess.
The opening of schools has me scared for community spread. Because NYC schools involve a million students and thousands of teachers and staff members in each school. They acknowledge spread will all but certainly happen, and have refused to mandate testing everyone, teachers are "recommended" to be tested and some are doing so. But the teachers returned to work last week and out of the voluntarily tests, positive rates went from about 17 to 55 from Friday to Monday.

And that's before students come in. And they're exposed to other people...and expose other people...

I'm immunocompromised, and people are already being lax with their masks. I wish they would just shut schools and be all remote for 2020-21.
the mayor really fucked opening schools up. its a disaster in the making. he should had planned it out earlier in the beginning and had school staff in bubbles. either way, i have a feeling school will only open for a few weeks before they close down again.
I think it’s definitely opening up schools again that is causing this virus to start spreading, here in the U.K. cases have just started really shooting up again like crazy after they reopened the schools, and significantly Scotland (which opened up schools a couple of weeks earlier) has had cases go up the earliest/fastest

Yeah that community fear is already happening in Upstate NY with SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Oswego (are they upstate? Lol Idek)

I now SUNY Oneonta completely moved to remote learning, but SUNY Oswego hasn’t even though their numbers have been over 100 cases

It's wild to me that people are like "Kids are safe and don't get infected as easily!!!" They haven't been to school for several months now. How can we be certain of that if they've been stuck in the house all that time!!!

this is exactly like all the commercials we grew up with that that made liberal use of the word "x-treme" and corny rap, so I feel like it's very effective
also, yes, I'm wearing masks because I'm not a total dipshit and also it's been mandatory since April

Ant-Man, you know what you gotta do to get us to listen. It’s your turn.

Still masking up anytime I go out, unless it’s on a morning or evening walk. Even then, I put a mask in my pocket in case I get caught up around others.

Is anyone else using disposable masks? I know it’s not the eco-friendly option, but I find they’re easier to breathe through. I also don’t have constant access to a washer/dryer, so it’s about the best I can do right now.
I have fabric masks for errands and stuff, but use disposable ones for 8-12 hour shifts at work
I have two self made ones, one a coworker made for me and one I made myself by using hers as pattern. Hers is a bit thicker because she used an old tshirt for the outside and a kitchen towel for the inside. I used an old bedsheet for the inside and a similarly thin fabric I still have for the outside. So if you make them yourself or give fabric to someone who can sew it for you, just test it at home, that's what I did.
And I don't put mine in the wash every day, I simply cook water and pour the boiling water of the mask in a clean bowl. My brother recommended a tiny bit of soap, like really just a drop. Then leave it in the freshly boiled water for a few minutes and hang it up to dry. I alternate them each day that way I always should have 1 dry and ready to wear.

I have 2 disposables that are secured on your ears for things like dentist visits and other things were the straps being on my head/in my neck would be a problem.
This sounds like time and effort, ha. Thank you for the advice, though! I may snoop around on Nextdoor for some volunteer people who sew.

my first trials were with kitchen towels and that really was too think for my machine in the end (if you do pleats)

i do wash mine with my normal laundry, but you do have to check what material the straps are, i did some with round elastics that got pretty much destroyed in the machine, jersey straps survived way better

I live in a apartment and I'm not using the washer to wash a mask everyday. Buy some antibacterial soap and hardwash the fuck out of it and let it air dry.

I use reusable cloth masks (with little cartoon Avengers on them) for most stuff, but I use a disposable mask when I go to the hair salon because now that I gotta get my grays touched up, I don't want to get hair dye on my expensive cloth masks.
RE: disposable ones, make sure you cut the elastic for the ears before you toss them! Animals have been known to get tangled up in them.

Echoing the hand-washing, my mom has been doing it bc the detergent was making her break out. she throws them in the dryer, but air-drying and then ironing is good, too. It helps to have enough that you only have to wash them once every week or two, though!
i got a cloth mask with ties from etsy that i've found pretty easy to breathe in (i've biked 50+ miles while wearing it). i handwash it, so no washer/dryer needed! let me know if you'd like me to pass the link along.
Oh gosh. I have like multiple reusable and washable cloth masks, and this foldable laundry mat is what I use to wash mine with laundry soap bars. Not just clothes to wash and hang dry but masks too. I live in my studio with limited accesses too :)

Check out the masks from Uniqlo!

They're very comfortable and breathable, because they're made from their special Airism fabric and they have a filter built inside
i bought a bunch and made a few. my favorite are the athleta ones i got, i like the fabric, there's a wire nose piece to make it fit better, and the ear straps are adjustable. target has some decent cheaper ones too that conform closely to the face. i have enough that i can just throw them in the wash once a week, but i have also handwashed sometimes
I find Bailey Blue masks are easiest for me to breath through. I wore it a few hours and wasnt desperate to take it off. They're so comfortable they've made all the other masks I wear nearly unusable. They're like t shirt material though so no filter and when you talk the material sucks into your mouth. Annoying but so useful otherwise I find it doable.
I wear fabric masks. the only time I've worn the disposable was when I was getting my hair glossed because I didn't want to stain my mask, and it was kinda weird since I'm used to fabric.

and for the record, I get my hair glossed at the in-store salon, so it's essentially my coworker doing my hair. he's kinda amazing at blowouts.
Honestly, I knew Americans were stupid but this pandemic just shun a light on how awful Americans really are.

Currently in quarantine and waiting for my results. In my country we work with bubbles of 5. Two of us tested positive so ugh... not looking forward. Also we wear masks everywhere (it’s arbitrary in my city + cases are going up really fast over the last week). PRAY FOR ME THANKS x
Sending good thoughts your way! ❤️
Fingers crossed.
I thought we'd be done with this mask bullshit by now. I like a red lip in autumn and this is cramping my style. Plus they're ruining my skin. Don't get pissy because I dare complain, I still wear it but I am NOT happy.
My shallowest reason for wanting this pandemic under control is definitely lipstick.
I miss wearing lipstick, too. It’s about the only makeup I can do perfectly every time lmao.
Boomers, and Gen Z don’t give a damn about masks. Boomers because they think it’s in their rights not to wear masks and Gen Z because they think they are less affected by the virus.
I was watching the news yesterday and a journalist interviewed a group a 10/15 GenZers who were at a bar, not wearing masks, of course. The journalist asked “why are you not wearing masks” and one of the GenZer said “oh well, it seems to be an old people disease, it does not concerned us...”🙄

In Paris, we have to wear mask everywhere.
Disposable masks are ruining my skin, though. 😭😭😭
I have pimples all over my chin, my cheeks... Awful, awful, awful...

I have cute reusable masks but I can’t wear them at work because they want to make sure every employees wear masks which follow AFNOR standards.

i hear you, the maskne i've been getting is like i'm in high school all over again
What do you use to wash/hydrate your face? You might need to use a more hydrating moisturizer. Also, have you tried a benzoyl peroxide gel for your spots?
I miss my darker red lipsticks right now. I went and bought some fall-ish looking earrings from Etsy the other day. I don't wear jewelry, but if I can't wear my lipstick damn it!
I share your frustration. I would love to be past masks a this point. Like you, I'm wearing one, but I'm ready to move on.
I hate wearing a mask, I have asthma and it does actually make my breathing way more difficult after half an hour of wearing. I still wear it but it sucks
have you tried using a drop of aromatherapy oil? I've heard it can help.
even if it's a surgical mask?
I mean your complaints are valid, but just for some perspective...people are dying. Like, no one likes wearing a mask.
ok, mask skin-care.

a: wash your face. probably work in some exfoliation. I've been using a cleanser from First Aid Beauty and the Dermalogica microfoliant, but there's probably more affordable alternatives, I'm just using my freebies.
b: wash your mask. no regimen will work if your mask is full of oil and skin-cells. a little salad-spinner is great for washing small items.
c: niacinamide.
just post a bunch of selfies while you trap yourself at home
I mask up at all times. I was using disposable ones for a few months but my mom and sister sewed me a fuckton and I just use filters with those.

I'm p sick of all the boomers & gen z's walking around without masks, they can all fuck off and die
its probs just me over thinking but i'm so paranoid when i leave the house like if my mask isn't on at all times and i'm constantly using hand sanitiser i'm panicking. i dont know how ppl are just swanning around like nothings happening when the case rates haven't changed.
i feel you, i am the same. My country is still under quarantine after like 6 months and cases are not going down, it's horrific
Same!

The one and only time I stepped outside my apartment without a mask was once when I had to take our the trash last month. I got halfway to the dumpster and realized I forgot it & was like, "it's fine. I'll be fast and prob not run into anyone"

Lo and behold a neighbor was using the stairs as her personal gym, sans mask 🙃

I stayed as far from her as I could, but I was still so paranoid for like a week that I caught it.

So I truly don't understand ppl who don't wear masks ever and act like things are normal
my city just had a huge uptick in cases and I had to go to this physically small store that only had two employees out and even tho we were all wearing masks they kept coming up super close to me to ask what I needed help with.

the aisles are v narrow so the second time it happened I started backing up and one of the girls looked at me weird and I felt bad but wtf it’s like no one remembers the 6 foot rule.
no offense but get away from me!!
i had a nightmare that i went into a store without a mask. the new going-to-school-naked dream.
omg I keep having those same kinds of dreams too.
I'm the same way. I drop my daughter at preschool, and I am paranoid when I pull my mask down for a second to give her a kiss goodbye, and we're outside!
weird how no one mentions its mostly men not wearing masks. instead just a bland "generations" thing
I just saw several women walking around with masks under their chins or not wearing any at all. It was mostly men earlier, but seeing a lot more people being lax.

Yea I work with the general public and it really is everyone fucking up. I’m nervous around so many people now since they refuse to wear the mask or wear the mask properly.
Yeah whenever I’m at the grocery store I see so many people, men and women, wearing them under their noses 😤
its still mostly men who aren't wearing masks. not enough of any gender - 67% of women, 56% of men say they've worn masks in the last month.

women in general comply with things like handwashing and other sanitary practices for a few reasons - men are more risk-tolerant, women are more likely to be caregivers either professionally or personally. if we're gonna go in on The Generations Are Wrong, As A Class, I also wanna focus on men as a class
ita. for me its white men not wearing mask.
last time i was getting groceries, i was standing in line, and we could hear some yelling from down an aisle (didnt hear what was said) and this woman stormed around the corner with her mask under her nose and she just saw us all staring at her with our properly covered faces and she pulled it up and stormed off down another aisle
A recent study showed that more women wear masks than men and I saw men fuming.

The ones that annoy me the most are the families I see in public where the women and children are wearing masks but the men aren't? Like what do you think is going to happen when your partner picks it up because he is maskless and y'all live together?

xtinkerbellax

For real, of all the ppl I know who don’t wear masks it’s solely men
I see plenty of women wearing their masks improperly (under the nose, loose as a foodbag, holding it away from the face) but that's because I work in a makeup store. they're usually either boomers or gen-z.
I see equal numbers of maskless idiots when I leave the house

i really don't mind wearing them, i sewed some really cute ones and also see it as extra sun protection

i kinda miss wearing lipstick, but oh well

I wear my mask everywhere I go. I mostly work overnights and it's just me and that's when I don't wear it. I keep it on me just in case someone comes around tho. You never know.

A third shift job where I’m by myself would be ideal for me haha
i’m offended like everyone else that this is targeted at millennials, but i did laugh. esp. at “cuoms” fucking cuomo. pizza boy. lol.
