Pumpkin spice has a new rival as autumn flavor: honey sweet potato

Haagen-Dazs Japan is known for their distinctly Japanese ice cream limited edition flavours such as soybean, purple sweet potato, and the ever-popular matcha green, every month.

For this September, the ice cream makers are celebrating autumn with a staple fall treat, roasted sweet potato. It has a sweet, honey-like taste, just like a well roasted sweet potato, mixed with creamy milk. Then the honey sauce is made from beni haruka, a type of sweet potato with a very high sugar content, to ensure a rich sweetness.

This autumnal treat will ¥295 (not including tax).

Do you think sweet potato could dethrone pumpkin spice as autumn flavor?
