Activists are calling for a boycott of Mulan because of statements actors made supporting Beijing

The road to get Disney's life action version of Mulan has been messy af! From Disney cutting out pivotal characters(Mushu)/scenes from the animated version to the director and writers being all white. Due to covid, releasing the film cost disney millions, as theaters around the world had to destroy cardboard cutouts, huge promo posters and even the film reel.

The live-action film's star,Liu Yifei, first angered fans last year with comments reportedly supporting Hong Kong's police, who have been accused of violence towards pro-democracy protesters. Chinese-born actress Liu Yifei , who's an American citizen - shared "I support the Hong Kong police. You can all attack me now. What a shame for Hong Kong," on her social media.

Activists are calling for a boycott from thailand and around the world are standing up with solidarity for Hong Kong. You can rent Mulan on Disney Plus from Sept. 4 for $30, it will be available to stream in Dec.
