
Katy Perry’s magnum opus celebrates its tenth anniversary today. The sophomore effort (or third album if you include her debut Katy Hudson) was released on August 24th 2010 and spawned five no. 1 singles (“California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)). The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 192,000 copies in its first week. It went on to be certified 8x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for 8 million equivalent album sales in the United States.
Perry’s upcoming new studio album “Smile” hits stores and steaming services this Friday, August 28th. RIP.
