The frontman for the rock band Psychedelic Furs has said that the writer of the film inspired by their hit Pretty In Pink got the "wrong end of the stick" about the track https://t.co/wi0ANwaNYX— SkyNews (@SkyNews) August 17, 2020
Lead singer Richard Butler said John Hughes took the song too literally, picturing a girl in a pink dress (Molly Ringwald's character). The song is actually about "a wayward girl and her nudity." Pretty in pink was a his metaphor for a naked girl.
However, he was fine with the use of Love My Way in Call Me By Your Name, starring ONTD faves Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer.
The song's usage brought a lot of new fans in, but the band's current fans weren't into the idea of having that song used in a brat pack film.
This OP would also like to point out the Psychedelic Furs just released their first album in 29 years, so check it out!
