The legendary DJ was murdereed in 2002, but no official suspects have been named until now. One of the indicted men was named as a suspect back in 2007 due to a string of robberies he committed shortly after the murder but was never arrested. He had been living with the musician at the time of his death. Officials haven't released much, but it seems that plot was to rob Jason Mizell (Jam Master's Jay birth name) and for the accomplice to provide cover to kill Mizell. Another man in the recording studio was shot that night but survived.

Jam Master Jay was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Run-DMC.
