A few days ago, former employees, notably Black, NBPOC, and LGBTQIA employees, formed the Outtathegloss, a play on Glossier's skincare blog Into the Gloss. On posts and a letter to Glossier's executives, the former employees highlighted the mistreatment and micro aggressions they faced most of them occurring in Glossier's NYC flagship location. Not surprisingly, these former employees revealed that the higher ups like store managers never did anything to deal with discriminatory customers or defend their black and NBPOC employees. Of course, there was also discrimination in the pay scale. They wrote a list of demands in the hopes that the company takes some meaningful accountability instead of throwing some dollars to some black initiatives and calling it a day. CEO and Founder of Glossier, Emily Weiss wrote a response on Glossier's company blog, not Into the Gloss, not on her IG, not on Glossier's social media, but on their retail website linked at the "company blog". If you've shopped anywhere do even click on a corporate blog? - linked because it's hella conveniently buried.
