Following Kylie Jenner’s appearance in the WAP video, fans expressed their frustrations on social media. Some fans even created a petition to get Kylie removed from the video.
Given the Jenner’s and Kardashian’s history of racism and cultural appropriation, fans are not happy to have Kylie in the video.
Cardi addressed it on Twitter but later deleted the Tweets. Cardi stated that she featured Kylie in the video because Kylie was nice to her sister and daughter at Stormi’s birthday party and they are friends.
Cardi asked why “everything has to be about race” in a response to a criticism of how Normani and Kylie were both featured in the video.
#CardiB speaks out against comparisons between #Normani and #KylieJenner, explains why she invited Kylie to be in the #WAP video:

"This is not about f*ckin race. Why did I put Kylie on my music video? She treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid bday party." pic.twitter.com/VcXOMQ4r0x
Cardi later posted on Twitter that the video showed of both Normani’s and Kylie’s talents: Normani’s dancing and Kylie’s “modeling.”
