FKA Twigs responds to criticisms from sex workers

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, known for her elaborate pole shows that accompany her songs, has come under fire recently from sex workers online.
Many sex workers have come forward recently with the view that she is a culture vulture & exploits their craft for aesthetic reasons whilst paying no credit toward those who use it to survive. She posted on Instagram today announcing that she is raising money for sex workers during the pandemic, donating £10k to start off the fund:

The comments underneath this post include Twigs' claiming that this has been in work for months, and it is only now that it has all come together. Sex workers are currently responding to her asking why it has taken so long for her to do this, when she has been profiting off sex work imagery for a few years now. There are a few criticisms flying round that she has not directly acknowledged particular people who have been holding her accountable, and has side-stepped the issue by not citing specific sex workers as inspiration and teachers (in fear of being seen as less original and innovative, which many people regard her as). There are also comments calling out the equating of hostessing with sex work, given that hostesses are employed by clubs and benefit from this, while strippers generally are self-employed and thus not protected by the same benefits that an employer allows (on this post).

An overview of the initial criticism can be found in this Instagram highlights post from sex worker @prettyboygirl, Selena The Stripper, I encourage you click through. In the highlights, it is claimed that Twigs has been removing comments from sex workers mentioning these points. A re-post also highlights that Twigs worked with Kanye West recently, who has made disrespectful comments about strippers in the past.

Selena also posted this infographic a day ago to highlight the differences in Kehlani's approach to finding inspiration in sex work and Twigs'.

Twigs also released a new music video with 645AR today in which she appears as a cam girl. There is no pole work involved, which has led to more criticism of vulturing, given that Twigs has seemingly never immersed herself in this work the way she has tried to with pole.
