On the last four Bandcamp Fridays, fans put more than $20 million directly into the pockets of artists and labels. We’re going to keep doing them for the rest of 2020, more details here: https://t.co/UJU3FMLNTc pic.twitter.com/fizXtRfZH7— bandcamp (@Bandcamp) July 23, 2020
Bandcamp, an online music store, has been hosting Bandcamp Fridays since the start of the pandemic. Usually, Bandcamp takes a 10-15% cut from each sale made on its site, but on the first Friday of each month for the past four months, Bandcamp has waived its share and passed that money directly to the artists. Each of these days has generated millions in sales.
Today, Bandcamp announced that they will continue to host Bandcamp Fridays for the rest of 2020, on the following dates:
August 7, 2020
September 4, 2020
October 2, 2020
November 6, 2020
December 4, 2020
So if you're looking to buy new albums or merch from Bandcamp, and want to support your fave independent artists, those are ideal days to make your purchases.
Love that they are doing this. What have you been listening to lately?
