R.I.P. Carl Reiner (1922–2020), American comedy legend

Carl Reiner, whose career in the performing arts spanned eight decades, has passed on. Reiner did a little bit of everything — acting in just about every medium, writing and directing, creating one of the most iconic TV programs of the 1960s in The Dick Van Dyke Show, and establishing a family dynasty in show business that most notably included his actor/director son Rob Reiner. He and Mel Brooks were a longtime comedy duo. He had his final screen credit in Toy Story 4 last summer.

Predeceased by his wife Estelle (of “I’ll have what she’s having.” fame), he is survived by three children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
