A source tells ET that Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s marriage hasn’t been working for a while.
"Kelly and Brandon work together non-stop and that became a contention in their relationship," the source says. "Brandon is the EP of her show as well as her manager. Also, Kelly has always brought up wanting more children, which Brandon doesn't."
In addition to the children he has with Kelly, Brandon has two older children from his previous marriage.
A second source close to the production on Kelly’s talk show says that the production staff was “kept in the dark” about the divorce announcement.
"Everyone loves Brandon. He's an integral part of the show," said the source. "Everything is run by him and he's a hands-on, decision-maker, not just Kelly's husband/manager."
ET got a copy of the court documents, Kelly filed for divorce on June 4 citing irreconcilable differences.
There is a prenup and Kelly is requesting that the court enforces it and that both parties pay for their own legal fees. Kelly is asking the court to terminate the ability to award spousal support to Blackstock.
She is also requesting joint legal and physical custody of their two children, River Rose, 5, and Remington Alexander, 4.
