Game Grumps has received many requests to make a statement about BLM (I am in support of BLM personally). I'm torn because Game Grumps is a brand, not a person. Would love to hear ya'lls thoughts on this, please let me know.

Geez Louise.
Arin Hanson, of the GG fame, asked his 1 million followers today if he should make a statement in solidarity of #BlackLiveMatter and the protests happening around the country in the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmed Aubry, and the countless others at the hand of the world's largest gang the police. His reasoning was that he didn't want a message to ring hollow from their "brand" and disrupt some coin despite he himself supporting the movement.
Many of his followers asked him to do so -
Please reach out to the millions of youths that watch you. This movement needs to be normalized.

Stopping racism is not an "on the fence" kinda situation, brand or otherwise.(@Lythero) June 3, 2020
You have a HUGE fanbase of younger fans who would immensely benefit from someone they look up to telling them that this IS important.

GG is also a brand that has historically leaned on racially based humor, and having hesitation on supporting real black lives is sketchy.Sam King

personal morals aside, NINTENDO has put out a statement in support of BLM. so have tons of other brands (some more genuinely than others but still).

will you get kick back from the alt right and certain fans? yes. because young white men are the most frequently radicalized.maya kern

Shortly after, he says he will support the movement, frustrated by his own hesitation -
I will make a statement and an act of solidarity with Game Grumps, and will continue to amplify Black voices and ways to help support the cause with my personal platform as well. Thank you all again.

While it's great that he quickly changed his mind, it continuously frustrating so many internet-celebs and online brands are continuously thinking profit first before making empty statements. To his credit, Arin has donated to the BLM movement and has been retweeting supportive material.
However, this isn't his nor his group's first time associated with racist shit. POS JonTron was once a member of GameGrump, and if you are blessed and forgotten about him, we had a post about his Nazi ideologies not too long ago. Arin has also said the N-word multiple times on streams when with Jon (trigger warning these aren't censored) - Video and Video
Of course, all of their fans are now dog-piling on people who dare criticize this and get upset at the earlier hesitation, calling folks "ungrateful" (hmm, now where have I heard that one before??)
I know news about internet celebs are kinda loved/hated here, and gaming celebs even more so, but I thought this would be a nice thing to use to express the frustration over mostly White people getting "time to process" things while Black people are left to suffer. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. <3 Please continue to support the moment here - https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
Sorry about that mods! <3
