Below is a poll to vote for our 12th week's movie night selection & date/time. Watching the news these last few days, I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to hold a Netflix movie night this week in light of current events across our country. I tend to process much of my world through the lens of and in the language of television and movies, using them as education, as well as entertainment or mindless escape. That was the initial purpose of this series of movie nights - to help those staying at home due to COVID have a few hours a week to indulge in escapism, among online friends.
That said, I don't want to take up valuable space on ONTD's feed that could be better served with informative posts about the Black Lives Matter protests. What I have decided to do is to use my small platform here on ONTD to elevate films by black directors and/or starring black actors, telling black-centered stories. These films range in genre from historical dramas, to action thrillers, to comedies, to Lifetime-esque quilty pleasures.
What Movie Should We Watch?
Thank you to everyone who continues to join in these each week! I am grateful for the years of community and connection ONTD has provided me. I have brought so many things discussed in the comments here with users into "real life" conversations within my day to day.
