Let's Have A Black Actors/Directors/Stories Themed Netflix Party, ONTD!

Over the last 11 weeks, several ONTDers & I have watched the following films together using the Chrome extension Netflix Party, where we used the built-in chat feature to discuss together....from a safe social distance:

National Treasure
The First Wives Club
The Craft
We Hate Movies podcast selection - Jupiter Ascending
Snowpiercer
One of this OP’s favorite thrillers - What Lies Beneath
Heartbreakers
Double weekend feature The Matrix & Inception
Kevin Bacon TNT classic Tremors
Julie & Julia
The Money Pit

Weekly movie viewings are planned with a weekly selection poll, reminder post & then party link post on either Fridays or Saturdays (poll results pending).

1) Using Chrome Browser, Click here & click on the "Install Netflix Party" button. Once you are redirected to the Chrome Web Store, click "Add to Chrome" to finish installing Netflix Party.
2) On movie night, the host ONTDer will open a video in Netflix to watch and start playing the video. If selected, the host will have full playback controls (YMMV).
3) To create a party, the host will click on the red "NP" icon located next to the address bar. Then click "Start Party" to get the party started, and share the party URL in an ONTD post to invite everyone to join!
4) To join a party click on the party URL, which will redirect to Netflix's website. You must have your own Neflix account log-in. Then click on the "NP" button next to the address bar, and you should automatically join the party.

Below is a poll to vote for our 12th week's movie night selection & date/time. Watching the news these last few days, I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to hold a Netflix movie night this week in light of current events across our country. I tend to process much of my world through the lens of and in the language of television and movies, using them as education, as well as entertainment or mindless escape. That was the initial purpose of this series of movie nights - to help those staying at home due to COVID have a few hours a week to indulge in escapism, among online friends.

That said, I don't want to take up valuable space on ONTD's feed that could be better served with informative posts about the Black Lives Matter protests. What I have decided to do is to use my small platform here on ONTD to elevate films by black directors and/or starring black actors, telling black-centered stories. These films range in genre from historical dramas, to action thrillers, to comedies, to Lifetime-esque quilty pleasures.
