the Mad Max Fury Road ending makes me cry every time.
The ending is so good! It makes me understand why people stand up and clap at the end of movies haha
The joker was so sad, I was just like over it and that last but actual intro to The Joker was amazing, imo. He just transformed ha.
I don't even remember most of Joker. Portrait of a Lady on Fire has a great ending, as does Parasite. They stuck with me for days.
It’s a crime that the first Saw movie isn’t on this list. Any of you MFers who say you saw it coming are lying
Saw is ICONIC and I will defend it until my dying breath for everyone who dismisses the first one as torture porn like the sequels.
100000%. It’s in my top three fave horror movies and completely separate from the sequels to me. Everyone in my theater gasped and clapped lol
I actually think the second is worth mentioning too because the end ties back into the first one! Plus Amanda is brought back which I thought was cool. Anything after that is real trash I never bothered watching.

Nowadays, I really appreciate endings that don't drag on with unnecessary epilogues (looking at you ROTK and Endgame) or tease out a future sequels. Filmmakers need to know that sometimes a concise ending can be more poignant and leave you longing for more

Some great endings I can think of:
-Before Sunset - Richard Linklater
-Jane Eyre - Cary Fukunaga
-Eat Drink Man Woman - Ang Lee (also noted this one for great beginnings recently).
-Moonlight - Barry Jenkins
-First Man & Whiplash - Damien Chazelle
-Memories of Murder & Mother - Bong Joon-Ho
-Age of Innocence - Martin Scorsese
no title
no title

also Blade Runner
Ugh I fucking love the Before movies so much and Sunset is my fave.

i cry every time lol
ughh yesss i think Before Sunset is my favorite
These movies, Before Sunset in particular, are so damn good I can enjoy them even though I can't stand Ethan Hawke.
I love this one the best of the three

i think about the ending to portrait of a lady on fire a lot since i saw it. also in the mood for love

in terms of movies that i've seen more recently, i really liked the endings to i don't want to sleep alone, the forest for the trees, and especially high and low. the final scene in high and low just really ties together all of the parallels (not sure if this is the right word?) between gondo and the kidnapper nicely
Thelma and Louise
Yesss
Arrival!
Yesss! I will watch the entire movie just for that ending!
Fucking iconic

"Eli getting his just deserts"

It's been a while since I've seen There will be Blood but how was the ending Eli getting his just desserts?? Plainview was a sociopath...
There Will Be Blood's ending is iconic, as as Phantom Thread's.
the ending to atonement destroyed me when i first saw it.
Yeah I'm not over it ugh
omg it's so good, yet so sad, can't deal with it.
now I want to watch it.
Favorite ending of all time is Titanic...when the camera starts going through the ship all the way to the final shot ugh. Tears. Full on tears.

Also Back to the Future Pt 2's ending scene shook me so hard recently.
People can say what they want about Titanic but that movie will always be one of my favorites. Everything is so pretty and I still get as emotional as the first time I watched it. Also, I’ve dyed my hair red for the past like 10 years cause of Titanic 😂
omg yes, I always fucking cry. EVERY TIME.
I wish it wasn't so ~trendy to shit on Titanic. It's a legitimately great movie. idgaf if some people think the ending is cheesy, it's EFFECTIVE and I always tear up against my own will. Even just the music gets me emotional. It's great.
