Extraction 2 is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Joe Russo has closed a deal to write the sequel.
Joe wrote the script for the first one and produced the film with his brother Anthony, under their AGBO banner. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as a mercenary hired to rescue the kidnapped son of a drug lord.
No word if the film’s director, Sam Hargrave, will be back. Over the weekend, Hemsworth thanked fans and reported that it was on track to becoming Netflix’s biggest movie of all time.
Netflix is also reporting that the film was a hit. They stated the film was streamed in an estimated 90 million households tuning into the film since its April 24 release.

EXTRACTION is well on its way to becoming the biggest-ever film premiere on Netflix — with a projected 90 million households getting in on the action in the first 4 weeks.

It is hard to determine the actual numbers as Netflix doesn’t release its ratings data. They count viewership based on two minutes of viewing time.
