Reddit Asks: What hit TV show do you think had a cast that hated each other?

I hear anything with Chevy Chase in it has a cast full of people who hate Chevy Chase

The Community cast did a table read at the Paley Center (it’s on YouTube). They had Fred Willard read for Pierce and the only mention of Chevy was “Oh, this is just like a real table read. Chevy didn’t bother to show up.”

--------------------------------------------

Bronn and Cercei hated each other in Game of Thrones after they broke up. I recall reading they wouldn't even share scenes.

yep. That's why Bronn and Podrick left the big meeting at the Dragonpit at the end of Season 7.

Wait they were dating wtf
WAY before the series. At least seven years.
And they were still that bitter?
FUCK yes. It was literally written into the contracts (both sides) that they would not even be in the same room together.

--------------------------------------------

Alf: The dad was a crackhead who was apparently high and/or drunk the whole time. Like, if you see him on-screen in that show, he's drunk.

One of the writers was a heroin addict, wrote a book about it. In an interview they asked if the heroin hurt his ability to do his job. He replied that it made it possible, that only while on heroin could he go to a meeting and say something like “yeah, Alf goes to college, that could really work...”.

--------------------------------------------

Northern Exposure: Everyone hated the guy who played Joel.

Now there's a show I've not heard much mention of!

Shame they hated him, might explain the continuing sense of his "out of placeness" throughout the whole show.

Any comment on the why?

He was apparently just very difficult to work with. Apparently he held up a lot of production after a few years because he started demanding more money as the show racked up Emmy wins - they won a lot of those, btw, even if nobody was watching it - and so they diminished his character significantly, and then altogether, and the show finished its last two seasons (I think) entirely without him.

--------------------------------------------

Lethal Weapon: on the first season of the TV show, Damon Wayans and his co-star haaaaaaaaaaated each other. Google up the leaked audio of them fighting, it's delicious.

--------------------------------------------

Sam and Cat, it was definetly not a hit, the show sucked, but the cast hated each other
For some reason, Jeanette was displeased with the series. She didn't want to play an innocent teen girl. She briefly had a series where she played a pregnant teen. Hasn't worked much since.

--------------------------------------------

Julianna Margulies (Alicia) and Archie Panjabi (Kalinda) on The Good Wife. They made sure they had no face to face scene together for more than 2 seasons, besides the fact that the characters apparently been friends. They even filmed Kalinda's exit scene in the series, where both women meet in a bar, separately and cut them together.

Yeah this was a crazy one lol. Unlike a lot of other examples in this thread, this feud significantly impacted the show in terms of storylines and relationships.

--------------------------------------------

I think Michael Pitt alienated everyone on Boardwalk Empire.

He also got himself written out of Hannibal for being insufferable. They replaced him with Joe Anderson and the only reason it worked was the extensive prosthetics the character wore.

--------------------------------------------

One Tree Hill. Two of the actors got married, then divorced but still had to play a couple. Ouch.

Most of the women on the show also hated each other during filming because the showrunner pitted them against one another. (This all came out during #metoo conversations where the cast spoke out against the showrunner for harassing them.)

--------------------------------------------

Criminal Minds!

The actor playing Hotch and the actor playing Morgan did not get along. Also, Hotch’s problems with the crew eventually lead to him leaving the show altogether.

Didn't he get fired for kicking a producer or something?

Also, while he didn't have a story of arguing with his co-stars, Mandi Patinkin (Jason Gideon) apparently left the show because he couldn't stand how disturbing the scripts could get.

--------------------------------------------

On Fresh Prince, Will Smith and the first Aunt Vivian actor had a falling out and she apparently still dislikes him.

This one was all on her, in my opinion. She wanted more plots to focus on her, instead of the person that folks were tuning in for, who happened to be the star, and the "Fresh Prince" of the title. That's why she didn't get along with Will Smith. She wanted to be the star of a show that she was never meant to be the star of.

--------------------------------------------

The dad on The Brady Bunch refused to appear in episodes where the plot or story were about things he thought were not believable.

I went through a major Brady Bunch phase when I was 10 or 11 (in the late 90s when it was on Nick at Night) and Greg’s tell-all book revealed a lot of drama behind the scenes.

I bad for him tbh. It was not a good time to be a gay man and he seemed like he was dealing with a TON of self loathing and he was scared it would it hurt his career. Especially since it was such a "wholesome" family man role.

I remember Florence Henderson said after his death that he was very depressed and an unhappy person for having to hide himself and life a double life all his life. That shit does wear on you.

--------------------------------------------

On Zoey 101, the actress who played Nicole hated Jamie Lynn Spears from day 1. The two argued constantly. At the end of the second season, she basically said “Either she goes or I go.” And that’s why Nicole never appeared on the show again.

--------------------------------------------

Desperate housewives. Most of them were actually friends but they all couldn't stand Teri Hatcher

They and the creator Marc Cherry had issues with Nicolette Sheridan (Edie) as well sparking rumours (pun totally intended for those who have seen) why she was killed off. She claimed they bullied and excluded her similar to on screen.

Do you know why they found her so annoying?

She was apparently a huge diva and insisted on being centre stage for shoots, first pick of outfits, that kind of thing. So say anyway. It makes me sad. Susan was my favourite

--------------------------------------------

Grey’s Anatomy has had big problems over the years. Ellen and Shonda are tight, but seems everyone else is on the outs.

I remember when it was leaked that Sarah Drew (April) and Jessica Capshaw (Arizona) got fired on International Women's Day no less, and they were like the two cast members that were constantly hyping up the show. And it came out of no where. And their last day on set had lots of pics with other cast members, but not Ellen or the directors hmmm....

And it seems that the people who left, either don't have nice things to say or aren't super keen on coming back.

--------------------------------------------

Sex and the City. Kim Cattrall (Samantha) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Bradshaw). Kim says that Sarah is a bad person and fakes her “nice girl persona”. When Kim’s brother died, Sarah expressed her condolences on Twitter and Kim just said “i don’t need your love and support” and she said that the two of them were never actually friends.
