AMC won't open its theaters until new movies are ready to be shown

Don't expect movie theaters to open any time soon, even if some states are allowing customer-facing businesses to open earlier than they should.

AMC announced today it's not opening any of its theaters until Hollywood is ready for blockbusters that are guaranteed an audience to go out. As of now, that is scheduled to begin on July 17 with Chris Nolan's Tenet, with Mulan joining the following week. This, of course, could change at any moment. Previously released films will also be included to fill up screens.

AMC also stated it will do this in an environment safe for audiences and will announce those guidelines before theaters are ready to open.

Cinemark's CEO indicated his theater chain will do the same, but no formal annoucement was made.
