“My mom had reservations about me not becoming an actor, but becoming a public figure. The emphasis that the business puts on your appearance, the emphasis the business puts on your age—on all sorts of things that have nothing to do with your ability to act.” pic.twitter.com/lOoOzr81Cv— NYLON (@NylonMag) April 21, 2020
In the interview, Maya said that she feels like her parents generation fucked her generation over.
Maya says that kids her age are “annoyed with their parents generation.” Maya feels that her parents generation had it easy because “they were all just high and driving around in cool, gas-guzzling cars.” Maya feels that her parents generation’s excess led to them destroying the environment.
Maya also felt that her parents generation had “no wars, and no plagues and no pandemics.”
“We’re in our 20s, we’re supposed to be having fun, and doing drugs and partying. But instead … We’re going to SoulCycle and trying to outlive our planet. We have a horrible president, and it’s just really irritating. They really fucked us.”
Maya is 21 and is in Gen Z. Her parents are both 49 and are Gen X icons.
