-On this week's "Red Table Talk". Willow Smith spoke of giving up weed and her grandmother spoke of being clean for 30 years, while also reconnecting with her sponsor during the pandemic.
-Pinkett- Smith on praising her daughter's decision to give up weed. Pinkett-Smith "Willow, I'm really proud of you, because you have decided to curb your excessive weed smoking. You were always telling me,you'd be like,'Gotta stop that smoking,"."Only as your mother I could see the effects of it that you couldn't".
-Willows grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Jones;who speaks of her own heroin addiction on the show, added "It was like with the history that we have in our family it was driving me crazy".
-Willow spoke of how she noticed how many friends cut ties with her when she gave up pot. Smith:"When I stopped smoking it was a really big eye opener because I was like, there are so many people that I called friends in my life who kind off.." Her grandmother finished her sentence saying "drifted away.
-Willow Smith on the positive effects of quitting. Smith " I know it sounds so cheesy but around the time I stopped smoking I started doing a lot of yoga. I just excelled Cause I was putting all my energy into that. Like I wasn't doing anything else and I was like wow, what if I was doing this with everything?".
-Jada speaks of noticing psychological patterns that once made her drink were creeping back in her life during the pandemic.
-Pinkett- Smith on how the newest episode is to help people battling sobriety with alcohol, drugs or food be reminded they are not alone.Pinkett-Smith "I think after this there's going to be a lot of recalibrating and that's just part of it. Change is never easy. All those concepts and ideas that got us to a place of sobriety are the places we need to return to and hold into even more fiercely than we have before".
