AMPAS Evaluating “What Changes May Need To Be Made” in the Times of Coronavirus.

Who watches the Awards-Bait?

Because qualifiying pictures must play in theaters for Oscar contention, and most of them are closed...what will the Academy do?

What needs to be done:

The Academy is focused on helping our staff, our members, and the industry safely navigate through this global health and economic crisis.  We are in the process of evaluating all aspects of this uncertain landscape and what changes may need to be made.  We are committed to being nimble and forward-thinking as we discuss what is best for the future of the industry and will make further announcements." Says an Academy statement to Deadline.

I have never seen the Academy be 'nimble' or 'forward-thinking' until last month, so this will stretch them to their limits. Some smaller pictures are going to VOD, which would render them ineligible under the current rules.

The Emmys expect no interruptions, and are slated to air in September.

So, so far, nothing. What changes do you think need to be made in the Times of Corona-V?
